Every time I select resume game on Halo 2 I am put back at the start of the mission, no matter where I left off the last time. This has happened 3 times now and is really frustrating because doing half the mission on legendary is hard enough in the first place.

You are not alone. Same thing has happened to me 3 times. Quite annoying since I don't have time to play non stop.

Same issue. Even after finishing levels I still "resume" to a checkpoint 3-4 levels back. I can't get this game to work properly for almost any function! It's really terrible.
Think I have seen a few threads on this but I have the same problem. Only tried launching from Halo 2. I feel Halo 2 is the toughest and longest of all the campaigns. Going to play the others until rectified.
Also, some terminals did not unlock for me in Halo 2 on a couple of levels.

So many glitches. I just resumed my game from last night and all I get is a black screen; even though I can hear all of the marine commentary and gun shots lol

Hopefully this gets fixed in the next update. I have been playing Destiny while I wait it out.
Been having the same issue and it's starting to seriously tick me off. You basically have to complete an entire mission as, no matter what point you finish at, when you restart the game you are back to the beginning of the mission. I give up on this game. This is the number one reason I went with an Xbox One and, it is a train wreck of a game. I don't understand how they can miss hundreds of bugs in a game that should have been tested extensively yet, within minutes of being released, millions report issues? Makes me wonder if this game was tested at all.
Halo CE skipped an entire level. Had to load that level manually.
Now Halo 2A won't save at checkpoints. They are concentrating on fixing the matchmaking when the campaign is just as broken. So, what am I supposed to do? Decide which is the least broken part of the game and play that? No thanks. I'll play a different game altogether. Maybe in 6 months or so they will get it working right. Assuming they don't just give up altogether. Halo 5 will be a bargain bin purchase for me.

Hate to join in here with a bug report. But after MANY hours installing, inc latest patch. 1: Can't save in Halo 2 @ checkpoint. Just given up playing tonight and know I'll have to play for an hour of repetition -at least- when I next pick it up. 2: Can't watch Nightfall. The xbox install (most of the day to download) says 100%. The game says 57% for extras. When the Halo Channel launches (and that took a few goes to get right) it says I need to buy Halo, so I thought I'd give it a go, as why not buy it twice? and it just bumps me back to the extras menu. Given up with the in game terminals. Bug fest. That's all I've tried, btw. Not launched anything else yet. Do we all get a free copy of Halo 5?
I have the same problem. Happened 3 times. 343 really need to pull their finger out to fix this problem. This game was meant to have improvements not problems.
On a number of missions I have had a black screen when resuming from a save point and so restarted - though I have now established that if you switch to the original view and then back again, it will rectify the black screen problem. However, I am having real issues trying to watch the Terminals as they rarely work. Also, the mission scoring is utterly broken, after a while it only registers a 0 on a kill and a -100 on my death; great way to get some truly epic negative scores! How am I supposed to even get close to the Par Score when all I can do is score negatively? Also, the badges have stopped being displayed entirely, so now I have to count the 0's to work out how many kills I got. But my biggest gripe is that on a fair number of occasions, I am saving and quitting, but when I come back to the game, it is starting me right at the beginning of the mission, and some missions are pretty damn tough. It's really starting to grate now and I'm starting to wonder whether I should just give up on the game as doing the same thing over and over is starting to lose its appeal.

Yeah I had the exact same thing happen to me. I saved my game, went to bed, and when I started my campaign the next day it said I had completed the level I didn't even start. I'm trying really hard not to touch this game until they fix some stuff. Does anyone know if the new patch fixed the Halo 2 campaign save issue?
I gave up and resolved to start and finish any level in one sitting - my missions were not saving at a checkpoint either.
Im hoping them to fix this, look like they didn't realized this issue :/

The same happened to me but on all 4 halo games. Do you think its because i play split screen legandary with my brother
Oh as well sometimes if i complete a mission then save and quit the hole mission doesn't save, even though i got the achievements for completing the level and getting the par score. This has happened on halo CE and 4.
Its happened to me on every mission so far but i thought it was because i was playing the collection playlist. Oh well. No biggy :)
