In addition to being a gov snitch, fraud George Orwell spent WWII demonizing the USSR as it defeated Nazism As the Red Army sacrificed millions fighting Hitler, and as the Nazi regime shoved Jews into gas chambers, Orwell was writing Animal Farm Vile man
Oh....are we gonna do the death count thing again? Sweet....cuz I never see how the US and imperialist capitalism comes out in that count. 😒

Orwell's hatred of Stalinists was informed by his experience of them trying to kill him in the Spanish Civil War, and succeeding in killing several of his friends who served with him in the POUM. Lot of bad blood there.

Read Homage to Catalonia before saying stuff like that smh... George Orwell was literally a soldier of the fight against fascism in Spain in 37-39 w/ the POUM, the Partido Obrero de Unificación Marxista.

During the 36-39 Spanish civil war, Stalinists were de facto the biggest enemy of leftist forces as it focused more on fighting non-stalinist leftist forces than on fighting fascism. It even restored private property where it had been collectivized.

I wouldn't say the Red Army was sacrificing millions out of altruism. I think its fairly safe to characterize Stalin as someone with no value for human life. It worked out at the time that he had the same enemy as the U.S. but lets not call him a hero.

I think you're forgetting that Stalin had a non-aggression pack with Hitler and they both carved up Poland and Eastern Europe like a Christmas ham. It was only after Hitler invaded the USSR with Operation Barbarossa that Stalin aligned with the allies.

The Molotov pact happened after the Munique pact. Stalin tried so hard to form forces with France and England against German, but they refused, by cleaning their hand because they wanted that the Nazis and Soviets killed each other.

Wasn't he a soldier in the Spanish civil war? Fighting both the fascists & Marxists at the time? & didn't he meet Portuguese fascist state police spies there called the PIDE? From which inspired the "thought police" concept? Sounds to me like he didn't like fascism very much

The Red Army “sacrificed millions” fighting Hitler b/c the Communists had murdered virtually all of their competent military leaders, *allied with the Nazis* leading Stalin to disbelieve accurate intelligence reports of the impending invasion, & were utterly unprepared for WWII.

To believe this is to be completely ignorant of the history of WWII. Stalin was completely fine with everything Hitler was doing up until the Germans invasion of USSR in 1941. Also the Red Army was not alone in defeating the Nazis.
