It uses checkpoint saves, usually after completing one of the various tasks you're asked to complete in the journal or forming conclusions. If it hasn't saved after 4 hours something is probably wrong.

It does autosave after nearly every action you do, just click at "continue game" at title screen.

I think there is something wrong then. I'll try another pc.. Maybe that will help. Thanks :)

I have also been playing for 5 hours, but when I reload the game is not there. I do not know what to do. :3

Weird... I played the game just some days ago and it worked perfectly. Try to check the files in proprieties.

so after i tried i finally fixed it , go the library right click on the game , properties>local files>verify integrity of game files , and it fixed my save games try it , let me know if it fixed

Solved it for me. Steam made me update and apperantly, after that, it made a new local game file directory!(?) Look in; C:\Users\***USERNAME***\Documents\My Games and you may find two maps with the game name, however one of them ends with Steam. Simply copy the "1_AutoSave.sav" and "2_AutoSave.sav" from map SH8Game in the one NOT ending in steam, and then overwriting the ones in the map ending with "Steam" and you should be good, I was! Hope this helps someone!

I lost 10 hours

The new update changed the save directory. But you should be able to restore your save game progress was by copying everything from the old save directory of "Documents\My Games\Sherlock Holmes - The Devil's Daughter" to the new save directory of "Documents\My Games\Sherlock Holmes - The Devil's Daughter Steam". Just copy both folders in there and your saves should be use-able in the game again.
