The birth of VAIO took place in 1997, about a quarter of a century ago, first emerging as Sony Corporation's brand of personal computers. With our focus on offering lightweight and thin mobile laptop computers, VAIO products became a favorite of people of all generations around the world. Even after becoming independent from Sony in 2014, we inherited that tradition and continue to create high-performance, high-quality products at our head office factory in Azumino City, Nagano Prefecture, located at the foot of the Northern Japan Alps mountains.

The motifs created by VAIO are "freedom" and "trying new things". We always have our customers in mind when we create our products, and we continue to focus on creating products that allow them to have the best computing experience possible. This includes VAIO's uniquely stylish design, ease of use and reliability, and the satisfaction that comes from owning and using our products. Based on these factors, it is our hope that our customers are inspired to “try new things" with the ideas that our products give them the "freedom" to create.
