Mr. Yamagami, With all due respect, aren't the Japanese taught about Darwin raid at all? I am sure there are Australians who know their history thus know what happened then. I am telling this as an American. It's amazing someone in the diplomatic corps posts things like this.

The MOFA video shows that the rising sun’s cultural value is best appreciated by Japanese in Japan. Australia has a similar situation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island flags - we attach cultural identity to both but we nonetheless fly the national flag over our navy.

I'm quite sure the people of Darwin know well. As well as anyone who had family living in or fighting in Asia during WWII. This is what happens when a country teaches a santised version of its history. We in Australia are guilty of this too.
