Is 2014 the worst year in recent gaming?

Is this just part of the growing pains of a new generation of hardware? I don't remember it being this bad with the PS3 / X360 and PS2 generations.

In the run up to the fall I wasn't particularly impressed with the stable of AAA releases coming anyway, so I must say they surpassed my already low expectations for how much they could have f*cked it all up.

I'd say 2 of the remakes are pretty good, the third will probably be good when it's fixed, and all of those sequels are more than "meh".

Indie? Been pretty damn awesome. Lots of great stuff been ported to PC/remastered on console as well. There have been lots of disappointments but I've still had plenty to play.

It has been messy for sure, but some of these are subjective. I personally enjoyed my time in inFamous, TLOU and GTA V (which I assume are disappointing to you due to this being a "disappointment" thread). I think other than performance based issues (which are concrete disappointments), we have had some great games (Divinity, Wolfenstein, Middle Earth, etc.) and it all depends on your tastes and interests.

Infamous wasn't a great game but it was a decent sequel.

DkS2 is my GOTY so, yeah, no. Also, the haters are an (extremely) vocal minority. There's a lot of love for that game when people aren't focused on downgrades/re-releases.

I loved Infamous, don't mind remasters, enjoying DA:I on my PS4 at this very moment after playing some Bayo and Smash on my Wii U earlier. Nope hell just today I had a pretty good gaming day. Waiting on XRD demo to complete it. In summary no 2014 wasn't all that bad for everyone.

It must suck to be that negative. Driveclub is my favourite PS4 game and if I ever get tired of racing, I've got BOI, Spelunky, Resogun or TLOU Multiplayer.
