2/ Second, and more importantly, California was very slow to vaccinate (thanks to Governor Empty Suit's many rules) - as of May 1, only 27% of LA County was fully vaccinated.
Thus LA was still in the happy vaccine valley even as late as July (it was Israel in May)...

3/ But the happy vaccine valley ends in a cliff (weird geography, roll with me). Everywhere. HUMAN BIOLOGY IS THE SAME EVERYWHERE. It is more important than culture or even seasonality (though maybe not vaccine type). If LA is still at that 29x rate (or even 8x), I'd be shocked.

I know for a fact one hospital. Large university, 92% unvaxed in a state with 55% vax rate for adults. Do with that what you like

Most hospitalized and deaths are among the unvaccinated, supposedly a younger, healthier group.

I suspect that the states/countries that were slowest to lockdown/restrict travel/vaxx will be better off long term. England better off than Israel because of the virus having free reign early imo.

Any “good” statistician can make the numbers say what they want. Raw data is what matters when it is available on such a large scale as it is with the hospitalization data

Are there any break down stats on unvxx but history of positive, symptomatic CV (natural immunity) vs unvxx no history of covid?
