NEW YORK — Speedster Quintin Berry will take the place of injured shortstop Addison Russell on the Chicago Cubs' National League Championship Roster released Saturday.
Berry was on the Cubs' NL wild-card roster but was replaced for the NL Division Series.
Berry has been successful on 27 of 28 stolen base attempts in his major league career. Berry was added to the Cubs' roster in September and struck out in his only at-bat but stole two bases in three attempts.
Russell will miss the NLCS because of a moderate strain of his left hamstring. Russell suffered in the injury after sprinting to third base for a triple in fourth inning of Monday's 8-6 win over the Cardinals in Game 4 of the NL Division Series.
