Ecology
This sterile hybrid is found on damp pool margins and runnel edges in wet acid mires, usually as individual plants, rarely as several together. It occurs infrequently where its parents grow together. Generally lowland, but reaching 365 m N. of Loch Moy (Westerness).

The hybrid is perhaps overlooked due to its similarity to D. intermedia, or to small plants of D. anglica.
World Distribution
This hybrid has been recorded with the parents in N. & C. Europe, N. Asia and N. America.
