1) Is it very sad or depressing? I just completed NieR: Automata, so no bully pls. I want a relatively non-depressing game. 2) How does the save system work? and related to that, what happens if you die?
1) No. 2) It saves when you're at a bunker or beacon, or you can turn on 'live saving' at a performance hit. If you die you spawn in a new body at a bunker or beacon you choose from the map. It even encourages you to "suicide" to save walking by choosing a spawn from the map and inhabiting a new body. Not really spoilers but: you aren't really the robot, you've hacked into it, so when you 'die' it's just that robot being destroyed and you hack another. This is revealed to you right at the beginning, so it's not really a spoiler.

So no proper manual save-anywhere system, not even checkpoints, just save locations?
You can turn on live saving, but the game only really does save-on-quit anyway. The structure is such that manual saving wouldn't really benefit you anyway.

Thanks for the answer, but I won't trust anyone's else's judgement on that part. Heck, most console players probably don't even know what a save-anywhere system is, and most PC players who also own a console are too lenient on the issue, so taking from someone that a system that I have found to be a deal-breaker in every game so far somehow works fine in this one wouldn't be wise. Right now my judgement is to "avoid above 5€".

Oooh, nice. Thanks
Manual save on quit to menu or quit to desktop, 'live saving' probably just saves every second or something like that.
As for the OP, the game is not really depressing afaik but it has some mystery and probably some paradigm shift by the end.

Can it be compared to far cry?
