Abbreviation for: Scholastic Assessment Test (formerly Scholastic Aptitude Test)
The SATs are actually three tests used to measure a potential student's worth:
- critical reading (formerly verbal)
- writing (formerly part of verbal)
- and math (formerly done without calculators)
These tests were allegedly designed to separate potential students by intelligence, race and cultural background. After the drastic changes in 2005, the test now just measures the ability to prepare for taking a test.
