Despite public apathy for skateboarding, Japan has turned out many high profile and successful skateboarders. There are male and female Japanese athletes competing in both street and park skateboarding events this week and next

Skateboarding is widely seen as an unruly pastime in Japan and not allowed in many public spaces; many skateboarders experience being stopped or question by the police. Success in the Olympics could change some of that perception in Japan.

Sights earlier going into the National Stadium for #TokyoOlympics2020 opening ceremony. This whole thing has been so messy, but it’s also just been extremely sad everyday knowing that the Japanese public cannot attend these games and the visitors cannot experience Japan.
