My significant other and I never knew our blood types since we lived in the UK during Mad Cow. Now I know that I am A+, and my SO is B-.
The test was easy to do and included very clear and thorough instructions. I recommend sitting. First, you place droplets of water on all of the card's circles. Then it's stabby time. They provide you with a single-use alcohol swab and lancet. The lancet is like a cork with a hole on one end of it. No needle in sight. You won't ever see the needle - it pops you fast and then withdraws right back into the lancet, never to be seen again. The lancet will only work once, so don't do a test run. Place the lancet over the pad of either your middle or ring finger, on the side facing your pinky and then press down until there's a pop. I looked away and focused on something else, but it really hurt more than I was expecting. I had a bruise for 2 days afterward, and I do not bruise easily. A little piece of advice: don't think about the stabbing if you are doing this alone, or if you can, have someone else do it. Then sit back and let the arm hang toward the floor. If I were to do this again, I would have put a paper towel underneath since both my SO and I bled very quickly and dripped all over the floor.
Next, applying the blood: they provide four little sticks, one for each of the circles. Do NOT use the same stick twice, you might contaminate one of the circles and get an inaccurate result. Put a drop of blood into a circle and stir. Repeat 3 more times and all the work is done. Wait for the card to dry down, and then compare the card to all of the possible results in the directions. The directions show what each result looks like in large, clear illustrations. Once your card is completely dry, you can apply the included sheet of adhesive plastic over the top to laminate it.
That's it!
I will purchase this again for anyone that doesn't know their blood type!

I've wondered what my blood type is for most of my life. All I had to go off of was that my mom knew she was O "something" and my dad was A or B "one of those." So obviously, not very helpful information there. I bought this little kit to find out for myself because I didn't want to have to go to a doctor's office just to find out my type. I left the kit sitting for a few weeks, knowing I would get around to it eventually. Well, I finally did it today. The first thing I noticed is I am very much a wimp. It took a lot of talking to myself to convince myself the lancet wouldn't hurt much, and finally, I got enough courage to do it. It did hurt. But, I'm glad it's over and I know my type now: O+
Everything was there as expected to be in the kit, and I highly recommend reading the instructions first and not just doing one thing at a time. I missed the step about applying water droplets to the test first, but caught it in time, luckily! The prick is very small, but supplies enough blood for each stick (4).
Overall, I highly recommend this test of you want to know your type. It was easy and (almost) painless!

Based on the photos some people have uploaded, it is clear to me that they have updated their instructions, and I have found them clear and easy to follow. However, some recent reviewers have still said it was confusing/complicated, so go figure.
Only use ONE drop of water on each of the circles. Test the dropper before using it on the card. Both of the droppers that I received were able to deposit perfect drops.
The blood drops should be no bigger than the water drops. I think they could be half the size and still work well. In fact half the drop size might work best. My blood drops were about 3/4 the size of my water drops, and they nearly escaped one of the circles while I did the turning.
I ordered a second one just to verify if I had done it right, as someone said they got different results on multiple tests. I saw the same results twice for myself.
Incidentally, my brother told me that he saw a documentary that said that your blood type can change on its own, in rare cases. He said there was a girl who was basically poisoning herself with her own blood because she was experiencing more than one change a day. Apparently, they had never been able to study the phenomenon before due to most people experiencing one or two changes within their lifetime, max.
Anyway, it did work as described. I will note that the lancet in the second pack arrived broken or already launched; not sure which. Other reviewers have noted the same and similar experience.
I broke the back off of it, and just used the needle directly on my finger.

My husband and I bought these just out of curiosity, as neither of us knew our blood type. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. We both ended up with the same result, so we figured we either did it correctly and have the same blood type, or we somehow messed up. But I recently had a type & screen blood test done through my doctor, and my result matched the result of this test kit perfectly. So it works!

After waiting about a month on this to arrive, Amazon listed it as lost. Then I got it in the mail finally. Since my doctors over the years have refused to type my blood "unless it's an emergency" they kept saying, I was excited about finally knowing what it is. This kit was awful. I bled a lot, and still had a very hard time filling the little cups since they are shaped strangely. They also do not stand on their own as portrayed in the instructions. I had to prop them up. Though i bled plenty, and followed the directions exactly, the results made no sense to me. See picture. This was a total waste of money.
