The #OlympicGames have only been cancelled three times previously. During WW1 and twice during WW2. Before 2020 and #COVID19 the games had never been postponed before (1/13).
was supposed to start on 7/24. Then, the 7 day avg of new cases < 1/ 100K ppl. There were no vaccines then & test positivity was around 17%. On 7/17/21 the 7 day avg of new cases is 2.25/100K ppl & ~13% positivity & ~22% of the country vaccinated (2/13).
is the ultimate stage. For public health experts: the ultimate test. Organizers are confident protocols will keep the games safe, but ~80% of the country prefer it not to happen. Tokyo remains in a state of emergency https://ipsos.com/ipsos-mori/en-uk/2020-summer-olympics-perceptions…

Life in the Olympic village is designed as bubble: w/minimal contact between athletes and the local community. Athletes and staff are to use designated travel for specified locations (4/13).

The testing regimen is constant: 2 tests on different days 96 hrs prior to departure, testing at arrival & during the first 3 days in . During the Games, athletes & officials have daily antigen tests & if positive a confirmatory PCR test. What’s the difference in tests? (6/13)
The continent of Africa has 1.2b people. Sine the rollout began in March, just 18m-or 1.6% of the continent-are fully vaccinated. Haiti gave their first shots 3 days ago. > 80% of vaxx went to wealthy countries says
Breakthrough infections are expected. Remember vaccines were tested for efficacy against symptomatic disease & we now have a more transmissible virus. Testing in has by ~80% since the end of Nov &
Given the amount of testing happening here in Tokyo, we may get a better idea of how common breakthrough infections are and their significance. (12/13)
You made a good point. I "daily antigen tests & if positive a confirmatory PCR test" does not make any sense. Sorry because, in Japan, anti-COVID measures have been carried out by idiots.

In Japan, the theory of PCR test suppression is prevalent, with scholars pandering to the government saying that PCR sensitivity is 70% and the mainstream media quoting them.
did you know their antigen tests are crappy “made in Japan” kit? If you use saliva (as they do now) the sensitivity for this particular brand is so low: less than 30%. The Japanese government want to push saliva antigen test of this particular swampy brand.
Japan strongly insisted on not to use mixed (mid nasal and deep throat on one swab) and turned away travelers tested in US saying mixed specimen is not allowed but they are okay with saliva as specimen which is very odd. They also okayed on antigen on saliva for preboarding test.
