It’s a combo of geometry/graph theory and linear algebra. The statistical aspects are only because of the large datasets

I see it as a form of statistics that is more understandable to biologists. That’s a good thing.

Groningen. Football supporters from FC Groningen batting it out against supporters from Arminia Bielefeld.
Lived there for ten years, never saw a fight like this. Normally they keep it close to the stadium.

Dont know what was watching! It was a typical real fight, seen many of them in previous careers. Particularly liked the guy who threw the table top and hit one of his ‘team’ in the back of the head. He looked really embarrassed.

Honestly, why is machine learning and AI so much in conversation right now? Nearly all of the underlying techniques have been in use since the nineties. Now just more data and more processing...same engines?

10 years from now it will be something else. “Intelligent Regression” or something
