Ducks chosen as mascot for new Odessa High School

New school to open 2020

The Appoquinimink School District Board of Education on Tuesday decided on ducks as the mascot for the new Odessa High School.

Odessa High will open in the 2020 – 2021 school year with only ninth graders, adding grades later.

The school will share the same building with a new middle school, called Cantwell’s Bridge, located on the Fairview Campus off of Old State Road. Last month, the school board decided to let the new middle school decide its own mascot.

The school board voted on Oct. 10 to give all the new schools names, including Lorewood Grove Elementary School, named after the road which runs near it.

All the schools are now in the planning stages. Voters last December approved the tax increase to pay for the schools.
