#ZeroCOVID really does deliver the best outcomes for both health and the economy. New data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics show that Australia's economy has outperformed those of countries that tried to "learn to live" with COVID-19.

For those who think that Australia's international border restrictions and 'go early and go hard' lockdowns have not been an economic success, check this out. Data sourced from ABS at: abs.gov.au/articles/inter @Tom_Kompas @DrZoeHyde

Is herd immunity even a possibility with a sizeable % of the population not wanting to get the jab, because, you know, our borders are shut and thus the sense we're 'safe'?.

What are the whole of health & economy outcomes like when you role in the impact of increases in Panic disorders, an outbreak of cancers that could have been caught had screening still been operating & a lack of access to dental care?

If you want to keep hospitals functioning normally so that care for cancer, heart disease, and other conditions is not interrupted, then #ZeroCOVID is the best strategy. It’s allowing the virus to spread that leads to lockdowns, overwhelmed hospitals, and worse mental health.

Japan's govt's been trying to "coexist with #Covid19 " in vain. With the arrival of Alpha variant, #Covid19 became a completely different disease for the Japanese. Now, Delta's already here, but the govt is forcing the Olympics. New variants are sure to be born, and spread.

Maybe because no one (or very few) do tourism in Australia? Very few people go there (it is very far from everything), at all. An island in the middle of nowhere, 20.000 km from London. Maybe there is the Eiffel Tower in Melbourne?

It's also worth pointing out that the pre-covid-19 economy was stagnating. The pandemic provided the excuse to stimulate the economy that would never have arrived otherwise.

How much of that GDP result is simply the result of high iron ore prices and volumes? I think it's all of it. The bulk of the economy is not doing as well as that, but still far better than countries with ongoing COVID-19.

Wow, we should be really careful to make such big claims. Can you really say the difference between Australia and USA is statistically significant with your number of data points? You might have some small evidence but hard to say when your sample is so small.
