TRENTON – Companies interested in taking on a pending Millville Senior High School expansion and renovation project submitted their technical proposals, as well as sealed pricing bids, on Wednesday afternoon to the New Jersey Schools Development Authority.

The authority and Millville intend to start the multiyear project in mid-2017 after graduation. Students will be present during portions of the construction, though, since the estimated $110 million project should last into 2020.

Wednesday was the revised submission deadline for both sets of documents. The pricing bids will remain sealed until at least March 2, the scheduled bid opening date.

Authority spokeswoman Edythe Maier said the technical proposals now will go through a period of examination to make sure they meet all bidding requirements.

A review team, which will include a Millville schools representative, will score each entry. Bidders also will be interviewed. The technical proposals consist of documenting a company’s experience and what its approach would be to the project.

Millville board OKs senior high school design

Millville intends to shift all 10th-grade students from the senior high school to Memorial High School for the 2017-18 academic year to make room for construction. About half the 10th grade goes to the senior high and the remainder attend Memorial, along with all ninth-graders.

The senior high will become a freshman class through senior class campus once the work is finished.
