Tl;Dr I said hell no as an answer to a pastor's question in youth group, was disowned by all the girls in the group as a result and became a meme to the boys.
I (14 f) was at a youth group meeting at my brother's friend's church. To give you an idea about how conservative they are, women in the church are not allowed to wear pants because it's “too revealing” while boys have absolutely not dress code.
The guy who was teaching the class wasn’t our pastor but a visiting pastor who normally preaches in prisons, and he understood we get tired of hearing the same bible story over and over so he actually brought science into the class. I had two friends in the class who I was sitting beside and my brother was across the room with his friends. There were about 30 youth in the class + the pastor's wife. The pastor asked if any of us knew what the scientific term for teen was, and he got random answers such as; teen years, the youth, time of discomfort, etc.
I answered adolescence (if there wasn’t the option to use a microphone to spell that there would be no way I be typing this). He was hard of hearing and asked what I said again and then he asked me if I knew how to spell it. Of course my cocky ass had to answer “hell no”. Mass surprise, second hand embarrassment, and confusion ensued. Some people were just shock I said that, others couldn’t figure out if I said “hell no” or “oh no”, and then the other people looked like they were sorry for me. By some miracle he either didn’t hear me or just chose to ignore it, because he didn’t acknowledge what I said.
After class I was known as the girl who said “hell no”. I was pretty much disowned by the “God fearing girls” who were my “friends”, but I became instantly popular with all the boys as a living meme. Long story short I hang out with the boys now.
