Posted February 6, 2013 Ok I am seriously starting to despise this game, and I dont know if this is only happening to me. I am on Chapter 6 and I had finished the ENTIRE Conning Tower side mission. I had to leave, so I SAVED and quit. I come back, excited to play some more, and what happened? The game fucking pushed me back 2 HOURS! All the way back to where I had to fight at the tram station to wait for the trams arrival! Seriously what the fuck?! Who's grand idea was it to take out the save stations! They were like a fucking staple in the series! Jesus Christ i still can't believe this shit.
Posted February 6, 2013 Same exact thing just happened to me and my friend. We played on co-op, he quit out, I reloaded my game, and this happens..
Posted February 6, 2013 (edited) yah save points suck some major XXXX at times my personal favorite is the ending where there is a 9999999 hour unskipable cut scene and if you quit too early your have the pleasure of redoing some platforming + last boss again. Edited February 6, 2013 by asdfen
Posted February 6, 2013 Oh man I'm not looking forward to loading my game tomorrow after seeing this. I played through Chapter 4 as long as I could hoping to finally come across a save station but I was so tired I had to save and quit, which I didn't realize was an option right away. The save system in the first two wasn't broken, I don't know why they'd change it. Seriously though, it's 2013 and we're still dealing with broken save systems in video games? How?
Posted February 6, 2013 This is why I hate games with just auto saving as their save feature, it case something like this happen, games with auto saving should also have manual saves as well.
Posted February 6, 2013 Not a big fan of the "checkpoint" system. I wish they kept the original save system, at least for Hardcore and Classic difficulties :/
Posted February 6, 2013 I've read that the game won't save your progress in a side quest, so don't start a side quest unless you can finish it. Anyone accidentally written over their single player save by doing coop? I've heard some have done that, any advice on how to avoid it?
Posted February 6, 2013 SOLUTION!!! Spam this issue on their twitter and facebook, make it public while its brand new and force a patch. Bitching behind closed doors gets you nowhere. Rally up your troops and spread this motherfucker!

LMAO.....while they are at it, they can charge $50.00 to just unlock the hardcore achievement right from the start. I bet they would actually make a lot of money with that one. Completionists, I tell ya......
Posted February 7, 2013 Tbh, this is why i love manual saves in games. The only one at fault would be you, forgetting to save. Unless the save corrupts, that is.
Posted February 7, 2013 You're fucking kidding me, right? They got rid of the save stations? I've only played the demo thus far - I've not been terribly ravenous to have to have this one - so I was not aware that they changed it up. That fucking blows! Well, instead of buying DS3 this weekend, I just added it to gamefly, so if it pisses me off, I can send it back. No harm, no foul.
Posted February 7, 2013 Is it weird that I've thought of the new save system as both a blessing and a curse? Yeah, sure, lose a ton of progress on my main quest... Oh, but lookie, I found some tungsten up to that point, so I get to collect it again to add to my loot! I don't know, it's annoying to do it again, but I am enjoying the crap out of recollecting all the loot sometimes when it sets me back so that I've got more supplies than the programmers intended. I think it's a great trade-off. No proper save system, but it's easy as hell to abuse if you want to!
Posted February 7, 2013 i've had the same thing almost finished an optional mission, i turn down the console to eat then i come back i'm back an hour before that....

Posted February 7, 2013 The game doesn't save during side missions. At all. Seriously. If you "save and quit" or die during a side mission you get put all the way back to your last checkpoint before going off to do that side mission. I learned that the hard way today.

Good to know, do an entire side mission (without completing) and save-quit to keep all your loot; then repeat for more loot. PROFIT

PROFIT actually no.... i tried that, and it put me again behind... shame... also these optional mission have almost no meds in them so you better be armed! yet again i start the game in impossible...i don't know if it has something to do with it, but anyway i left the side mission and just carried on the story i'll do these little things later on

Higher difficulties actually make the game significantly harder, I find myself constantly dropping health kits on Normal to make way for Bench loot; but on Hard you will find an extreme shortage of drops compared to Normal. You're playing on Impossible? it may actually be an accurate description this time around, the game also adjusts Necromorph spawn rates and vetrancy (on top of damage multipliers) according to difficulty.
Posted February 7, 2013 Is the checkpoint save really that bad? No saving at all whilst doing a side mission. And looking at the first post, he had to do over 2 hours of gameplay again after he saved and quit. But you still keep any collectibles you pick up, right?, even if you have to restart a checkpoint? like you get killed... I played alot of games with just checkpoint save's and alot of the times it's been ok, if the game give's you regular checkpoints. I am picking this game up Friday morning when it's out in the UK, and i have played the other's and enjoyed them. But if the save system is that bad, plus i've seen post's on this site, and the PS3 sister site about, yet again 'Bugs & Glitches', i'm now wondering about the game, or is it alot of people just being picky? I'm now very unsure to fork out £40 on a game that could make you wont to "snap it in half", if it's that bad with the saving issue... Any more input about the saving from any one who has already played it, would be good. I don't mind going back to a checkpoint if i get killed due to my own fault, but being put back miles, is another thing....
