Don't use "Hero Save". Finish your training in the Guild, so you can use "World Save", that save the game progress properly.

I think that is bad too. I dont understand why, but it seems to be a way to force you to finish the tutorial (the guild) at once or something like that.

Yeah, I refunded the game. I am to the point in my gaming life, that if a game starts screwing me in that way, I won't waste my time with it. I have been a gamer since 1988, and I know I am very picky about my games. Due to this, I won't let a company screw me over for something as basic as this issue has been. I think it is important for us as gamers, to hold companies accountable so that they know we won't let them get away with things that inconvenience us. Economics involve supply and demand, and this issue is something that should always be addressed.

It's an old game. It was likely coded in a way that caused problems if you reloaded while you were in the middle of the quest, and they weren't sure how to fix it, so they went with the best option (disabling it) rather than overhauling the entire code.

That, or because it was designed for Xbox, it has something to do with how that console handled saves and they didn't want to overhaul it for the PC port.

Being such an old gamer, I'd expect you to be used to programmers using some confusing, vague, and inconvenient workarounds, especially in the saving department. Crash Bandicoot comes to mind. As much as its saving system gave me a migraine, I'd be missing out if I had boycotted it over that one quirk.

Anyway, you could always go with Fable Anniversary, but reportedly you still need to beat the Guild all at once, and to save in quests you need to hit checkpoints by going to a new region (usually not difficult to do).

I think I just barely enjoy games enough anymore to bother with most of them. Trying to relive the glory days of my gaming youth is pretty dumb on my part :)

Maybe you just haven't found the right games yet. ^^ Fable is a pretty fun RPG if you can get past the annoying saving system. Most quests are short enough, but even long quests like Twinblade and Bargate only get up to an hour (or two if you really take your time). The Guild is one of the longest quests, you just have to get through that and you're free to do what you like.

If you want, I could even speed through the Guild and give you the save if you don't want to do it over again, if you haven't refunded it yet.
