L’Oreal has named Asmita Dubey as its new chief digital officer, with previous chief digital officer Lubomira Rochet set to move to the JAB Partnership, a holding company that owns several consumer-focused brands, including the largest shareholding in rival cosmetics company Coty Inc.
Dubey will take up the post immediately after serving as L’Oreal’s chief media officer. In her new post, Dubey will also join the group’s executive committee and will be charged with leading the next phase of its digital transformation. She previously held the role of chief marketing officer for China and Asia Pacific within L’Oreal and is credited for starting its ecommerce division there, building partnerships with Alibaba and Tencent in the process.
Meanwhile, Rochet, a recipient of the Marketer of the Year award from the World Federation of Marketers in 2019, will be based in London where she will handle business transformation and growth across the company’s brands, including Krispy Kreme, Pret a Manger and Panera Bread. However, the company has stated that Rochet will not be involved with Coty. She will take up the position on June 1, leaving L’Oreal after seven years.
In a statement, Olivier Goudet, managing partner and CEO of JAB, welcomed Rochet. “Her experience and vision will be fundamental to the path forward as she enriches our institutional perspectives and capabilities in the digitalization of our world, a megatrend that is fundamental to understand in order to capture long-term growth and value creation for many years to come.”
Jab claims to be responsible for managing total capital in excess of $50 billion and also holds investments in JDE Peet’s, Keurig Dr Pepper and the Caribou Coffee Company.
