Michelle Borninkhof Named SVP, CIO at AutoZone

Michelle Borninkhof has been named senior VP and chief information officer of AutoZone, the auto replacement parts retailer and distributor with more than 6,500 stores in North America.

Borninkhof joins from McDonald’s, where she’s served as CIO and VP for U.S. technology since 2018. At McDonald’s, she had responsibility for the strategy, development and execution of the company’s technology products and services to 14,000 U.S. restaurants, including customer-facing technologies, back-office applications.  

Prior to joining McDonald’s, Borninkhof spent 11 years with Walmart, including as VP, international technology delivery, as well as a decade at Target. She also held roles at Albertsons and Alltel, and Bill Rhodes, AutoZone chairman, president and CEO, customer satisfaction, pointed to her wealth of experience in a statement announcing the appointment.

“She is well-positioned to build upon and accelerate our progress while effectively serving the organization and our customers for many years to come,” he noted.

Borninkhof replaces the retiring Ron Griffin and will become a member of AutoZone’s executive committee.
