CommScope Names Digital Transformation Leader Praveen Jonnala As CIO: Exclusive

The network infrastructure provider has elevated its VP of digital transformation, Praveen Jonnala, to CIO as CommScope focuses on its next-generation wireless networking and communications infrastructure businesses.

Network infrastructure provider CommScope has promoted Praveen Jonnala, an executive who has been with the company for more than a decade, to chief information officer, effective immediately.

Jonnala is replacing Karen Renner, CommScope’s senior vice president and CIO, who left the company in November.

In his latest role, Jonnala has immediately assumed leadership for the Information Technology organization. A spokesperson for CommScope told CRN that Jonnala has “a successful track record in delivering long-term value-creation through digital transformation and next-generation technologies.”

“CommScope’s mission it to push the boundaries of technology to create the world’s most advanced communications networks, and it is my mission as CIO to ensure CommScope thrives in a digital and connectivity-first world,” said Jonnala. “Many opportunities exist for technology to transform and drive business success—by evolving product offerings, transforming factories and the supply chain, and providing exceptional digital customer experience to name a few. I am humbled and excited to assume the role of CIO.”

CommScope has undergone some leadership changes in recent months. The company in October announced that its CEO of 15 years, Eddie Edwards, was stepping down. Replacing him at the helm was Charles “Chuck” Treadway, who joined CommScope to help the company grow its next-generation wireless networking and communications infrastructure businesses in the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The Hickory, N.C.-based company has been focused on next-generation connectivity, such as 5G and IoT, as well as cloud and subscription-based services powered by AI and machine learning for network intelligence and service assurance for businesses customers and channel partners.

Jonnala has been with the company since 2008 and most recently served as global vice president of digital transformation and business solutions. In this capacity, directed all aspects of strategy, development, and delivery of digital transformation for Commscope by partnering with different business areas of the company, such as sales, marketing, supply chain, manufacturing, and finance. He was responsible for a global team of 500 employees across different technology groups, including digital customer experience, global data strategy, and B2B, according to LinkedIn.

Prior to his more than 12 years with CommScope, Jonnala had experience in global operations and supply chain, as well as product management with the likes of Sun Microsystems and Ford/Mazda Motor Company.
