Isn't she a politician? I'm all for women as leaders (and there is still a LONG way to go) but there's no point if they're going to be just as ignorant and racist as the men in charge. We need more open-minded politicians of both genders!

She’s ridiculous. It’s a virus first of all which doesn’t ‘prioritise’ on a certain group of people over others. Plus, my mates here are actually worried about if I travel. I’d definitely travel if I’m allowed to do so to avoid another entry ban, but it’s less risky here though.

Didn’t expect this much attention on this reply. Just to clarify, my initial point, in response to Mrs Hashimoto, is that I believe most of us are not after the public medical treatment. Rather, we have our lives in Japan which are on hold for really long.

Perhaps Japan should consider mandating anyone coming into the country must test negative for Corona within 72 hours of their flight. Then test them again when they arrive, just to be safe.

Rochelle, a Twitter protest is one thing, but if you are an American, (my guess), then lodging a concern with the US state department in Washington (not Tokyo, they're useless) is probably a more effective avenue. If a Japanese official misrepresents so much, where does she stop?

This is a long story, but let me tell. Japanese gov has no intention to overcom Corona. They take advantage of this confusion and are trying to revise many regulation while the public cannot get aware of their wrongdoing. We (Japanese) might not survive.
