Photos of mercenaries in 1960s and 70s
Hi,
The golden age of modern mercenaries was in 1960s and 1970s, especially in Africa: Kongo, Nigeria, Angola etc. If you have any photos or links, I would appreciate it a lot, especially from Nigeria.
The guy, who scan for me in the internet place didnt made his best work today, so sorry about the bad quality of the photos.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Hi,
Few more:
Colonel Jean "Black Jack" Schramme is one of the few mercenary leaders in black Africa to lead a successful coup d´etat on an Africar dictotor. He is wearing the insignia, shown on the next photo. Emblem of an extinct unit: "Commando Kansimba" or Leopard Battaillion, as Schramme´s 10 Commando was better known in the 1960s. Mercenary humour in Congo. Souce: Soldier of Forture magazines, August 1985 & Seeptember 1986.
Cheers

Personalities:
Rolf Steiner pauses from command of Biafran army brigade in 1968. Steiner was top merc of savage civil war in which American Nick Bishop led Ibo troops of Biafra´s 4th commando. During Congo rebellion of 1960s, Siedfried Muller was one of the first mercs to sign on in South Africa. Major Michael Hoare (right), commander of 5th Congo Brigade, prepares to lead attack on Stanleyville, rebel stronghold, in 1964. Trooper holds older model FN. Another view from Rolf Steiner
Death in Biafra. Left "Taffy" Williams giving orders for the attack on Onitsha (10 November 1968) to the Flemish mercenary Marc Goosens. The meditative mercenary sucking a straw is Armand Ianarelli. Minutes later Goosens has been killed. His men bring back his body.

Airwar:
WIGMO armorer works on B-26 attack plane at Stanleyville, the Congo. Deadly plane was armed with eight .50-caliber machine guns and 18 2.7-inch rockets. T-28 fighter-bomber used in close support of mercenaries and belgian paras making mercy-mission raid into Stanleyville, the Congo, to free white captives and liberate city from communist-supported Simba guerrillas. Re: Photos of mercenaries in 1960s and 70s
The man in the helicopter is a Belgian colonel Jean-Marie Crevecoeur. There is a web site about him in albertville.stools.net/text_kasongo_nyembo
