Special Containment Procedures: While not in use, SCP-5324 is to be stored in a safe at Site-25 Site-26. On the first day of each month, SCP-5324 is to be removed from its safe and brought to Sector 9 Sector 111 alongside an acceptable candidate for SCP-5324-1. Upon reaching the correct location, the candidate is to touch SCP-5324. At no other point in the handling of SCP-5324 is it to be touched by the handler’s bare skin.
Containment of SCP-5324-1 is to be exclusively assigned to Mobile Task Force Epsilon-7 (“The Twelve Labors”). This task force is not to have the Foundation logo anywhere on their uniforms nor are they to proclaim their association with the Foundation in any way. This task force is to have the primary goal of killing SCP-5324-1. When they fail this goal they are to be disbanded and a new, identical, task force is to be made with different members.
Candidates for SCP-5324-1 are to be selected from agents who do not have the proper clearance to read SCP-5324’s article and have never acquired it. Agents who have already been SCP-5324-1 are excluded from selection. All candidates are to pass Foundation loyalty and morality tests (see Personnel Examination-5324).
Candidates for SCP-5324-1 are to be selected from D-class when they are recruited. Candidates are to be kept separate from other D-class and not given any information about the Foundation. Class A amnestics are to be administered upon their arrival at Sector 9 Sector 11. After the effects of SCP-5324 wear off, they may be used for other tasks.
Description: SCP-5324 is a large bronze locket weighing approximately 70 grams with a ruby on the center face. SCP-5324 shows signs of weathering including rust on the hinge, scratch marks on the face, and a broken clasping mechanism on the chain. Inside the locket is a black and white photograph of a woman who is estimated to be approximately 20 years of age. Any information on the woman in this photograph is to be reported to Head Researcher Garcia.
If any individual makes contact with SCP-5324, they become an instance of SCP-5324-1. Instances of SCP-5324-1 show no noticeable changes in personality except for an increased hatred of SCP-5324-2. SCP-5324-2 is selected from individuals or organizations that are considered immoral by SCP-5324-1. The exact criteria for who can become an instance of SCP-5324-2 are uncertain (see testing logs for more details). Psychological examinations display a significant increase in self-confidence in instances of SCP-5324-1 after the effects of SCP-5324 wear off.
After an individual becomes an instance of SCP-5324-1, they will attempt to go to SCP-5324-2. As of yet, all attempts to prevent SCP-5324-1 and SCP-5324-2 from meeting have ended in failure. When the two meet, SCP-5324-1 will initiate a violent conflict. This conflict will always result in a victory condition in the favor of SCP-5324-1.2 No conflict between SCP-5324-1 and SCP-5324-2 has resulted in the deaths of any individual involved.
After a victory condition is met, SCP-5324-2 will have an effect imposed on it. These effects commonly have consequences that last even after the effects of SCP-5324 wear off. The exact effect is chosen by SCP-5324-1, but it is unclear whether or not SCP-5324 has any control over this choice. Examples of effects include:
- A public apology on behalf of SCP-5324-2.
- If SCP-5324-2 has violated state or federal law, ensuring the associated law enforcement officers successfully apprehend them.
- If SCP-5324-2 is an individual, removal from their position of status and/or power.
- If SCP-5324-2 is an organization, complete disbandment.
- If SCP-5324-2 is an organization, implementation of policies to restrict their functionality.
Given enough time, an individual will always touch SCP-5324. The exact time frame required is unclear, but a year has not been recorded to pass without SCP-5324 being touched. It has been theorized that the probability of an individual touching SCP-5324 increases the longer it goes untouched. Every time this property has manifested, the event could be otherwise explained through natural causes (e.g. locking mechanisms failing or safes breaking). However, the sheer quantity of these coincidences suggests an anomalous property.
