vedrc@vedrc 3 - I can tell tons of work has been put into this. It's amazing that they did this all by hand, and I can definitely see the 25-30 hours spent on this. I won't critique for the unique melody, as that's part of the song, but some of the instrument choices here don't work for me. Some things just don't fit with the vibe of the song, and it kind of makes the feeling listening to it a bit weird. Also, using the real clip from the first 30 seconds then transitioning it to the noteblocks doesn't-5 days ago

vedrc@vedrc feel right. The transition between the two kind of throws me off. However, it's a great noteblock and I can tell tons of time has been spent.5 days ago

ArtsyStrawberry@vedrc 4 - I don't quite understand why this user chose to include a clip from the original song. I was blown away by the opening, and the limitations of scratch noteblocks made the rest of it seem less striking. I feel like this noteblock didn't embody the pace or the atmosphere of the song. I didn't feel the adventure and foreboding vibes from it as I did with the intro. However, I liked the mix of instruments and harmonies. It made the noteblock seem clean and professional. I can tell this user-3 days ago

vedrc@vedrc 4.5 - This is absolutely insane. 15K notes is a lot, and they managed to make these songs sounds amazingly realistic. The use of external sound effects really elevates the song and the mix is perfect. However, I would have liked the drums to be a bit louder in both pieces. With all the complex melodies and rhythms, the drums get kind of lost. However, this is amazing and I can definitely see the hard work put into this.5 days ago

ArtsyStrawberry@vedrc 5 - This user's noteblocks have never failed to surprise me, especially since they arranged it by ear. They're the only user who pursued a nontraditional method of noteblocking, and it paid off. The only slight critique I have is that the synth sounds a bit overwhelming towards the beginning. Other than that, there's not much I have to say.3 days ago

SuperEggMan@vedrc 5 - I really almost forgot it was running on Scratch while listening. The combinaition of all the different instruments is on point, feeling like a real band. It's even more impressive knowing he did this all by ear. Even after the competition, I'll be waiting for his next creations.a day ago

vedrc@vedrc 3 - It's a wonderful noteblock. I can tell tons of time has been spent in it, and they even noteblocked all 4 movements which is super impressive. Melodies are great. However, the use of the violin as the instrument kind of ruins it for me. The high pitched sounds of the violin sometimes aren't pleasing. However, it's a great noteblock - one of the biggest and best I've seen.5 days ago

ArtsyStrawberry@vedrc 4.5 - This noteblock had such a long runtime. I can tell this user spent a lot of effort on it. The violin was not for me, as it made the piece sound "squeaky," if that makes sense. I would have preferred a softer instrument. Although, I could attribute that quality to scratch noteblock limitations: violin sounds better in real life.3 days ago

SuperEggMan@vedrc 5 - I hesitated to give it the max note. But I must say the final result is mind blowing. Doing a noteblock projet that long with a lot of windy instruments is far from an easy task on Scratch, especialy by hand. It could have been easly unbearable, but it feels like an actual orchestra (at the scale of a Scratch project of course). The violin doesn't always sound good, but it's an inevitable flaw on Scratch. I guess he kept it to be faithful to the original piece.a day ago

vedrc@vedrc 4 - Great noteblock! The melodies here are great, the dynamics are present and work well. My main point is that it feels empty in some places - not enough happening at the time. Also, I sometimes feel like I need more Left Hand in the song, and that could be done by increasing the volume of the Bass notes. However, it's a great noteblock.5 days ago

ArtsyStrawberry@vedrc 4 - This noteblock came together very well. The use of volume and tempo made the piece seem cohesive and professional. I would have enjoyed it a bit more if this user experimented with different instruments instead of playing it safe and sticking to the piano.3 days ago

SuperEggMan@ArtsyStrawberry 4 - He mastered his technique for piano noteblocks, playing with volume and measures very well. Yet a few things didn't satisfy me. The song is kinda repetitive and didn't have enough deep notes at some points, making the music feel empty. Also it's a piano only project (not even drums), which is unfortunate for the final. This could have been easly compensated.a day ago
