ROZELLE UPDATE: Southeastern Conference Commissioner Harvey Schiller said yesterday he is not a candidate to become National Football League commissioner. The Atlanta Constitution had quoted Art Modell, owner of the Cleveland Browns and a member of the NFL's original search committee, as saying that Schiller, 49, was among the candidates for the post. Modell said the candidates will be put to a vote by the league's 28 owners at a three-day meeting in Dallas scheduled to start Oct. 10. "The search committee hasn't contacted me," Schiller said at the SEC offices in Birmingham. "I can only tell you clearly that I am not a candidate and have no plans to meet with the committee." NEW SITE: The New Orleans Saints-San Francisco 49ers game, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 8 at Candlestick Park, has been shifted to the Louisiana Superdome at 4 p.m. EDT, the NFL announced. The site change was made because of the Giants-Cubs NL playoff game. The 49ers-Saints game originally scheduled for Monday, Nov. 6 at the Superdome, will be moved to San Francisco, at 9 p.m. EDT. FALCON ARREST: Atlanta Falcons offensive tackle Houston Hoover is free on bond after his arrest on speeding and drunken driving charges. Hoover, 24, was stopped on Interstate 85 near Norcross about 3:30 a.m. Monday, clocked traveling at 104 mph , Gwinnett County police said. He was taken to the county jail with a blood-alcohol content of .10 -- considered legally intoxicated in Georgia. . . . Green Bay offensive tackle Mike Ariey, suspended for 30 days for steroid use, was cleared yesterday and returned to practice.
