This weekend we have the pleasure of talking to Victoria Chavez of Instagram fame. Victoria constantly posts her amazing style, some great travel pictures and some awesome food on Instagram (@victoriach90). We had the opportunity to talk about how she grew her blog, her social followers and her plans for 2017. Please give it a read and most importantly a follow!
When did your interest in fashion and beauty begin?
My interest in fashion and beauty begin since I was a little girl watching my mom get ready. I would notice how she would do her makeup and of course, the fashion trends in the 90’s were so much fun so I think that’s when I really started to notice all the details that fashion encompasses.
Later on, when I was a teenager I wanted to be a fashion designer and I would always draw sketches with different dresses and textures. After a while, I realized maybe I was not the best at it and I could showcase my interest for fashion some other way. Aaand, voila! Here I am.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be?
When I was a little kid, I wanted to be a teacher. After that, I wanted to be a fashion designer and then I decided I should just stick to acting. I was always in all my school’s theater plays so I decided to go towards that route.
What is your favorite social platform and why?
I would say my favorite social platform is Instagram. I love Instagram so much because it lets you express how you’re feeling or what you’re doing through photos. I just love photos! They are collected memories of time and feelings. I have been saving pictures since I was little stacking them in boxes, so having a platform that lets you post and share all of those memories is amazing!
You have a very engaged audience on social media. How do you retain your followers and get them to interact?
I try to engage as much as possible with my followers by asking them questions and replying to their comments, not only giving them advice about fashion or showcasing my life, but also asking about their lives, advice, etc. It’s so important to have good interaction with them and understand that they are real people behind the numbers.
How long did it take you to grow your following?
It has taken me about a year since I decided I wanted to start sharing posts about fashion, beauty, lifestyle and food.
How would you describe your personal style?
I would say my personal style is casual but edgy sometimes. It all depends on the day, to be honest. My most important rule is: You have to be comfortable. That’s all. I hate going to an event where I feel so uncomfortable with what I’m wearing that I can’t wait to go home and take everything off. Trust me, it has happened… many times. My style is simple, casual and comfortable. Of course, there are times where I have to look more “dressed up” but I always try to be comfortable and fashionable at the same time.
Who is your fashion icon?
My mom would be my #1 fashion icon. Second to that, I love fashion blogger Brittany Xavier from Thrift & Threads because she looks so casual and comfortable all the time. I’m about that life, lol.
What are the trends that you are currently coveting? Do you think you’ll love them next year?
I am obsessed with all the 90’s trends that are coming back this year! I am not sure if they will still be on trend next year, but I really hope so.
How do you stay up to date with the latest fashion and beauty trends?
I follow a bunch of Instagram pages that post about fashion. Of course, I also follow other fellow bloggers and celebrities. And last, but not least, I am subscribed to many online magazines and websites that are always talking about the new trends.
What are your goals for 2017?
I want to travel a lot for 2017 to learn more about other cultures and ways of living. I have an online business called Bloom Bath Products that I would like to really grow in 2017. I would also like to help spread the word about important world issues through my social media accounts. Lastly, I want to be more fit, who doesn’t have that goal for a new year?
