Microsoft Teams: Twitter Connector, Goodbye ...

There was a very disappointing announcement.

▼ From the Message Center in the Microsoft 365 admin center

A message from Microsoft Teams that the Twitter connector has retired. Moreover, although the release date of the announcement was 2/26, it was abolished on 2/21. This is a post facto report. There seems to be some unavoidable situation. However, this is a shock ...

If you try to add a connector from a channel that you haven't actually added at this time ...

▼ Twitter connector not found

Really ...

However, the announcement says that the added connector will not be able to receive tweets after 2/21,

▼ It is still received today

However, I think it's only a matter of time before I can't receive it because there is an announcement.

▼ If you hover the mouse over the icon, it will be blank ...

This is a very disappointing announcement. I've talked about Microsoft Teams in many places in the past, but I said it's good to use the Twitter connector as one of the ways to use it as a "hub". It's easy to set up easily, but it was also useful to be able to "like" and "retweet" from the received notifications.

▼ You can "Like" and "Retweet" from the received notification.

▼ Even more convenient is the same likes and RTs from the mobile app.

Of course, it is also very useful for business use. Not only people in the marketing department of the company, but also various other information gathering. It is really a pity.

So, when I see the announcement, it says to use Power Automate as an alternative. The link included a link to the Power Automate template.

Post to Microsoft Teams when a new tweet matches the specified hashtag

Unfortunately for Microsoft Teams' Twitter connector, the only way to receive tweets was to specify a specific Twitter account or a specific hashtag.

▼ The setting screen of the Twitter connector of Microsoft Teams that can not be added as a memorial

So I couldn't specify a specific phrase in a tweet that wasn't a hashtag.

But Power Automate's Twitter connector triggers "when a new tweet is posted"

▼ Specify search text

You can specify words that are not hashtags like this, and you can also use Twitter's advanced search techniques like "from: @username".

It's not as easy to set up as the Microsoft Teams Twitter connector, but I think it's easier to create from the template shown above.

However, the unfortunate part of this Power Automate template is the action of those who post to Microsoft Teams.

▼ Template triggers and actions

Just post the tweet text only. From which account do you post from here? You need to modify it to add it. Also, this method does not allow you to like or RT from the notification received like Teams' Twitter connector, so for example, if you display the tweet link and click it, the tweet will be launched in the browser ... It will be a compromise, but at the minimum I think there is a method that can meet the purpose. It seems that it can be convenient if you do other small and difficult things ...

The rest is a little different ... You can also use the simple template of Power Automate mentioned above to create a flow and just let it be notified for the time being, and add TweetDeck to the tab of the same channel.

▼ Select "Website" by adding a tab

▼ Enter the TweetDeck URL in the URL

▼ Cannot be used without logging in

▼ TweetDeck can be used in Microsoft Teams

▼ You can use it more widely by expanding the tab.

When both are set to dark mode, it looks like they are built in without any discomfort. Of course, if it is a channel used by multiple people, it can not be used unless all members log in, but in the sense that the work is completed within Microsoft Teams without launching the browser for the time being, this is also a fine "hub" I think it's how to use Microsoft Teams.
You can see a simple notification post by Power Automate and actually respond with the TweetDeck tab. It's one way.

As a result, it is a pity that Microsoft Teams' Twitter connector has retired, but I would like to continue trying alternatives.

In the past, Power Automate couldn't use the Facebook connector. This is unavoidable because it involves changes in the specifications of the other party's service. So I wonder if there was something on the Twitter side that suddenly became unusable this time. I think it is speculation. I have no choice but to get along well.
