Gust originally announced Chronos Materia, their “social RPG” for PlayStation Vita, back in January 2013, but we haven’t heard much about it since then. This week’s issue of Famitsu magazine reports its cancellation. [Thanks, Hachima.]
When Chronos Materia was first announced, it was compared to Radiant Historia, as a game that will allow players to rewind time to different spots in the game and change how events unfold.
It also had an interesting concept of allowing you to retain character levels and items as you skip around the game and defeat bosses that you might have not been able to earlier. Gust’s main concept was to create an RPG that’s easy to get into and offer more replayability than other RPGs.
They hired Vocaloid illustrator Non to take care of its character designs. A reason for its cancellation was not announced, but we haven’t seen any updates on it since mid-2013.
