A 150-foot-long former Navy mine sweeper is tied up in Tarpon Springs while being rebuilt into a luxury charter vessel. The all-wooden ship was built in 1952, meant for war. The ship was bought at auction by the McIntosh Foundation, a private philanthropic organization in West Palm Beach that gives money to conservation causes. It was on loan to the French government and was towed from France to Tarpon Springs last year. When it is finished, it will go to Alaska to be used as a luxury charter ship. It contains no metals made from iron.
