Dear friends,

It's time for our monthly donations! As it's both Black History Month and LGBTQ+ awareness month, we decided to donate to the Marsha P. Johnson Institute. Marsha P. Johnson was an activist, self-identified drag queen, performer, and survivor. She was a prominent figure in the Stonewall uprising of 1969. Today, the Institute protects and defends the human rights of Black transgender people. They do this by organizing, advocating, creating an intentional community to heal, developing transformative leadership, and promoting they collective power. Their current focus is Police Abolition. The second half of the donation is going to the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI) - a UK based charity who work towards a country in which immigration law and policy are based on sound evidence, promote the rule of law and are underpinned by respect for human rights and human dignity,  where no individual or family is made vulnerable or destitute or faces the denial of fundamental human rights as a result of immigration law or its application.
