the dumbest thing about this is I don't even care and my original comment was just an aside but the fact that Matt is clearly fearful enough about this to DM an anon shitposter and threaten me with a libel suit makes it hilarious and makes me want to talk about it all day

if anyone can find me a copy of "The Exile: Sex, Drugs, and Libel in the New Russia" by Mark Ames and Matt Taibbi I will gladly re-read it and livetweet excerpts all weekend long. But it seems to be out of print and thoroughly scrubbed from the usual book sites. I wonder why!

it's easier to find PDFs of Mein Kampf and the Protocols of the Elders of Zion than it is to find a PDF of Ames and Taibbi's non-fiction confessional about serially abusing Russian women in the 1990s. really makes you think.

update: a helpful fren pointed me to a bookstore selling a copy of Ames and Taibbi's book for $25 shipped. I have eagerly placed my order and the live-tweeting of my re-read of this literary masterpiece will begin shortly after delivery.

Mr. Taibbi seems to no longer be responding to my DMs and I suspect he's come to the realization that threatening me with a frivolous libel lawsuit was a rather large mistake and one he will soon regret the duck never forgets or forgives, Matt. it's too late to apologize.

update:

tucked his tail between his legs and retreated from the field of battle, blocking me and conceding this humiliating defeat however the livetweet reading of his book will proceed as planned since he has not apologized and because there is no mercy for journalists

i don't like this, but journalists made this world where men destroy each other with words. i find it tiresome and more than a little womanly. i would much prefer it if Matt came to see me and we settled it like men, with a fistfight streamed live on youtube or twitch

if you've read the actual memoir in question Matt's pleas of innocence are extremely laughable
