Socrates (c. 470 – 399 BC) was a classical Greek philosopher credited as one of the founders of Western philosophy, and as being the first moral philosopher, of the Western ethical tradition of thought. An enigmatic figure, he made no writings, and is known chiefly through the accounts of classical writers writing after his lifetime, particularly his students Plato and Xenophon.

Socrates is like the quintessence of Ti, Ne is not his dominant function. If you type him ENTP you probably rely on the Socrates described in "The Clouds" by Aristophanes, who was basically a sophistic

ENTP 5w6, perhaps the relation to 8 here is through 5 integration.

Ah yes Socrates, the daddy of all ENTPs and the god of all ENTP 8w7s. The ENTP debate is basically non existent, which I am glad about, but I do not seem to grasp the idea of him being either a 5 or a 1. He was a social monster, very good at holding conversations and translating his immense ideas to the general public (probably not a 5).

He was extremely dominant, but took on a kinder role towards his students, nevertheless he was merciless in debate and did not let weak arguments slide. This was his WHOLE DEAL. He seems to be overflowing with the sheer force of an 8w7. 5's try to appeal to people and live to learn, 8's want to understand the world so they can change it in some way.

The idea of him being a one is pretty mental to me. Ah yes, the unwashed, stinking man-swine who hates the established order and loves throwing a wrench into everything is a one and not an eight. I getcha. I do think Plato might have been a 1 and his writings might have made him appear like a 1 too.

Going off of Plato's Dialogue, Socrates doesn't come off like an 8 at all. He's extremely tactful and polite to his opposites, even when there very rude to him. He refused to escape prison, because he viewed it as his duty to follow the law (1 tritype.) He valued harmony with others, and seemed to never lose his temper with anyone. An 8 is a fighter, confronting people head on with there faults and wrongdoings. Socrates was a diplomat, carefully constructing arguments in such a way that would make his opponintes realize they actually didn't know what they were talking about, or agreed with him all along.

"the virtous is a happy person, because he follows the reason, while the non-virtous is unhappy, because he lives of instincts" and people still type him as a feeler lmao

β€œThe children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.” ENTP king
