The former Nauset Public Schools Superintendent Michael Gradone will be the new Truro School District superintendent on July 1, the Truro School Committee announced today.

The former Nauset Public Schools Superintendent Michael Gradone will be the new Truro School District superintendent on July 1, the Truro School Committee announced today.

Current Truro School District Superintendent Brian Davis announced in October that he planned to retire on June 30, after an 18-year career at Truro Central School.

Gradone retired from the Nauset public school system in 2009. Since that time, he was Interim Superintendent of Chatham Public Schools for a year and has done independent consulting work, according to the release from the school committee.

Gradone ran for town moderator in Brewster in 2012 but was defeated by long-time moderator Stephen Doyle.

Prior to being the superintendent at Nauset he was assistant superintendent, and earlier he was a principal at Wellfleet Elementary School and an elementary school teacher in Hardwick.

Gradone holds a B.A. degree from Harvard College and an M.Ed. from Westfield State University.
The Truro Central School has 137 students from pre-kindergarten to sixth grade.

Older Truro students typically attend the regional middle and high schools within the Nauset Public Schools system.
