(PS) Remember, when he first agreed to leave office post-insurrection, he touted "The Office of the Former President"; now his stationary says "The Office of Donald J. Trump" with a "President Donald J. Trump" signature If we weren't desensitized this'd be very alarming behavior

When I got to visit Jimmy Carter, we were instructed not to call him "Mr. President," because there is only one President, but it was ok to call him "President Carter," and that friends at church and in Plains called him "President Jimmy."

He probably has no idea how to appear, even in a letter, as a private citizen. The signature, always obscure, looks to me like: SmallHarumph . If he can't lord it over the truth by his authority, he seeks shadows.

He has been doing this from the beginning - although you're right, the signature is particularly telling and aggressive. When Kevin went to see him, both of their statements referred to "President Trump" with no former or other qualifier.
