This is not who we are. This is not how our American Democracy functions. We are a nation of laws governed by the Constitution — not anarchy and insurrection. My vote today was to be based on those principles. I don’t like the result of this election either.

But Congress doesn’t have the power, nor should it, to change election results — nor does an angry and violent mob. I will vote today, tomorrow, whenever it happens, just as I planned to - for our Constitution and the preservation of our Republic.

Agree with you. It's time for you and your peers to work across the aisle. I was watching Ted Cruz and others as they spoke until the insurrection began. This cannot continue. Accept the results of our free and fair elections and work to improve the election process.

We must correct the gerrymandering and stop voter suppression. Voting and voter registration must be made easier. This should be handled on the state level but I'm not confident it will happen. Pass John Lewis's bill tomorrow!

Congress members can object. You, with evidence plain to see, had one chance to support the head of the ticket that got you elected. You declined. You, Tim Scott, and frankly the entire Federal government, have lost the consent of the governed and are now politically impotent.
