Prototype is one of the best superhero, zombie, and open world games ever made, all in one.

Reasons to Buy:
+ OP Super Powers
+ Dynamic faction wars for city zones
+ Engaging combat, with manual healing, different powers/vehicles for different situations, combination defensive powers, integrated super parkour, and quick stealth escapes.

Reasons to Bail:
- Shows its age

Nitpicking & Biased:
+ Slowmo
+ Ragdolls
+ Last Gasp
+ Dodge roll
+ Interesting lore
+ Superninja flips
+ Tons of upgrades
+ Hide in plain sight
+ Stylish animations
+ Solid lockon system
+ Heal by consuming targets
+ Semi-destructible envoirnments and people
+ Quickly toggle powers, and activate multiple ones at once
+ Instantly lose agro by breaking LoS and changing costumes
+ Dynamic free running; through crowds, over vehicles, up walls
+ Web of Intrigue collectibles are actually interesting, unlike audio logs
+ Divekick sliding on a zombie's face is like top 10 coolest moves of all time
+ Better climbing and gliding than Zelda BOTW. Done a decade earlier. Also copy/pasted by Saints Row 4.
+ Collectibles provide useful exp, and increase in value the more you collect, making it rewarding to mindlessly freeroam
+ Infestations and military bases randomly appear around the city, providing meaningful visual transitions and gameplay variety
+ City streets are densely populated, by both cars and people (and/or zombies), and they serve a gameplay purpose, instead of just background noise.
+ This is the first game I ever remember having inverse kinematics (adjusting legs and feet to actually look like they're standing on uneven surfaces), and to this day, still does it better than most
+ Empowering gameplay. Fight a tank with your bare hands, or use that tank to blow up monsters. Flip over everything in your way, or faceroll through it, depending what powers you have active. Fall 1,000 miles and slam into the ground with an epic explosion, instead of flopping to your falldamage death. Inteli stealth consume. No derps, no doofs, no soggy noodles.

+- NewGame+
+- Tons of challenge events around the city
+- Guns are a thing, only a temporary pickup
+- Can't drive regular cars, but you can use tanks and helicopters
+- Lite transmog system, as you can take on the appearance of any NPC

- No coop
- No music/radio
- No achievements
- Audio is stupid quiet
- GameStop billboards
- Objective markers don't show distance
- Saving during a mission, doesn't actually save
- Graphics aren't especially good. Even in its time, they weren't impressive.
- Anything with knockback is gamebreakingly frustrating, and there's an entire boss based around it
- Collectibles only render from like a block away, and aren't shown on the map, how are you supposed to find them all?
- PC settings suffer from its age and/or port. No borderless window mode, limited graphic options, max effective resolution is 1080p.

* Played with controller

It's like STALKER, but these devs actually put in some effort.
Also it's free, and coop =)

Reasons to Buy:
+ Its free, so no buying required
+ A survival game with some actual game to it
+ Multiplayer works well, functional coop, and disableable PVP

Reasons to Bail:
- ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Pros/Cons:
+ Free2play
+ Flashlights
+ Unreal Engine
+ ASMR sound design
+ Cute Russian translation
+ Interesting enemy variety
+ Can completely disable PVP
+ Good safety rings map layout
+ Saves parties between sessions
+ Scifi bubble shield around town
+ See your body when looking down
+ Sane anti-PVP mechanics around safe zones
+ Quests, content, exploration, and progression
+ Freely recustomize your character before login
+ Hunger and thirst work as buffs, instead of poisons
+ Considering this is early access, and an indie game, its surprisingly bug free

+- Graphics look and run decent
+- Human NPCs can insta-kill you
+- Can respec, but it costs 100k tokens, which is madness
+- Can see your in-game watch, but only with certain weapon types
+- You get 1 free character per server, but characters are server specific
+- Loot isn't instanced, but considering the non-meta survival theme, maybe a pass

- No auto reload
- Local voice chat
- No fast travel or vehicles
- Flashlights don't cast shadows
- Turn up gamma to cheese NVG
- Tree LODing could be less ridiculous
- Sprint toggle option is derpy either way
- Too many annoying confirmation popups in shops
- Can't pickup stackable items without an empty inventory slot
- 24 hour delay to delete a character (only way to change your class)
- The bar and office quests marks are confusingly on top of each other
- Quest marks should show an area to search, when there's an area to search
- Classes seem crazy unbalanced, and give you zero information when picking one

* Turn off voice chat ASAP

Took them over 10 years to make this sequel of a sequel of a sequel of a sequel, and its not even as good as the original. GG

I miss the days when this was the worst type of product on Steam - mediocre, but still of high production values and completely playable to the end. Instead of the literally unplayable early access scams that make up 99% of Steam's catalog nowadays.

Reasons to Buy:
+ I would say the story, but you could just watch that on youtube
+ If you're a DMC fanboi, this game sticks to the combat, a bit too much

Reasons to Bail:
- Unsatisfying combat
- pay2win revive system

Pros/Cons:
+ Slowmo combat finisher
+ Vidya Gaems have stories?
+ Graphics look and run pgood
+ High quality production values

+- Wave survival mode
+- No stat creep, but also no customization
+- Trish and Lady are in this purely for fan service?
+- Automode needs improvement, especially on Dante
+- Combat looks pgood, but is just mindless arm-numbing bullet-sponge button mashing, even moreso in automode, even moreso on V
+- Every boss is a unique encounter (aside from being blatantly reused 3 times each), but because there's basically no defensive skills, and no way to heal, learning their mechanics is just suicidal trial and error

- Gated difficulties
- Unsatisfying ending
- Audio is like 2x too low
- Bad writing and/or voice acting
- Can't pause cutscenes, only skip them
- Nero's arms should be swapable with the d-pad
- Every hallway is interrupted by irrelevant cutscenes
- Not enough time to speed read loading screen recaps
- Some weird coop mode that may or may not actually exist?
- Its like they go out of their way to tell the story out of order
- Lockon system is garbo, and directional based inputs don't work worth a crap
- Skins are just recolors, and the menu to equip them is either hidden or broken
- Daily login rewards, in a singleplayer game that you can finish in a single no-life sitting? lol
- Wave survival mode has a longer result screen after every wave than the actual wave length
- Level design is painfully linear, visually uninteresting, and gets repetitive and redundant towards the end
- Dodges don't animation cancel, even the stance dedicated to defense doesn't, making defense not a thing.
- The revive/continue system (and therefore your ability to beat bosses), is borderline mobile-game levels of pay2win.
- The upgrade system is weak, and the amount of core abilities that require unlocking is borderline game breaking.
- Gameplay still doesn't keep up with cinematics, things like slowmo and wall running could certainly be implemented in this gen

Remember that episode of Family Guy, where they got an HDTV, but the lady on TV looked gross in HD, so Peter flung it out the window?

That's this.

Mediocre, intentionally ugly, poorly balanced, overpriced.

PoE is nearly identical, but better, and free.
Diablo 3 is more accessible.
Either of those are better options.

I've played every game ever made. This one has the worst tutorial of all time. It doesn't explain core mechanics, and ends with a boss that can't be beaten with the few mechanics it has bothered to teach you.

For Honor's combat system is broken to the core, has unresponsive and asinine stick+trigger instead of facebutton controls, is devoid of skill/mechanics, is broken even worse by multiple targets and friendly fire, and that broken combat is all it has to offer.

Then on top of the game itself being trash, the business model is tiers of disgusting pay2win.
Not even worth free.

"Coopetition" should be an official tag on Steam, so you know a game is poorly designed before wasting your time or money.

Reasons to Buy:
+ Crazy guns
+ Functional coop

Reasons to Bail:
- Cringefest writing, but since the villains are twitch streamers, its kinda fitting now?

Pros/Cons:
+ SPAAACE
+ Lazer wings
+ Level scaling
+ Second wind
+ Coop housing
+ No fall damage
+ Animated skins
+ Legit idle scopes
+ Rise of the cartel
+ Skins apply to pets
+ Per player difficulty
+ Holo bounty boards
+ Alternate fire modes
+ Universal weapon skins
+ Cool guns, much variety
+ See your feets when looking down
+ Interesting dual color picking system
+ The villains are twitch streamers; just like real life
+ Lite parkour and sliding (could do with double jump)
+ Coop is fixed, so you can actually play together, and aren't punished for looting
+ Graphics are finally high rez enough to actually tell what things are supposed to be
+ The main cast is made up of the gun companies' owners, in a game all about crazy guns
+ Minor loot (ammo/cash/etc), which used to require holding E to pickup (which could also swap your weapon, the stupidest design of all time), is now auto collected.

+- Moxxi slots
+- There is a story
+- Upgrades get stupid expensive stupid fast
+- Mini-achievement challenges for everything
+- Snipers pop enemies, but take multiple hits to kill
+- You can lock your favorite items, but the shop lacks a quicksell
+- Only runs at ~30 FPS on a 1070, but still plays smooth. Medium preset needed for 60+ FPS.
+- Classes still have only a single ability button, and that ability is underwhelming, but it is far more customizable this time

- Texture pop in
- Gear is level gated
- Always out of ammo
- Needs L4D style companions
- Sanctuary is a pain to navigate
- Dragging the map is stupid slow
- Can't levelup your favorite guns
- Menu textbox tutorials are awful
- Classes locked to premade characters
- Badass enemies drop disappointing loot
- No warning when selling equipped items
- Legendary effects aren't listed on tooltips
- Overhead names randomly disappear in coop
- Can't tell what perks are boosted by class mods
- Falling off the world is an expensive insta-death
- Can't craft your own guns, in a game all about crazy guns
- Generic loot should suck to you without having to wait around
- 3rd party crossplay account, harassed as soon as you start the game
- Fast travel points are few and far between, should be every checkpoint
- The ping noise is incredibly annoying, instead of just having characters talk
- Quest tracker is lacking. Can only follow one at a time, has no pathfinding, only displays the inworld marker at short range...
- Why is Lilith's telepathic face a real person? Didn't they learn how gross that was in BL2? They even updated it to an animation there...
- Granted, there is a warning on DX12 mode, but it has major issues. Severe stuttering; on audio, visuals, and input, separately. Takes minutes to load shaders at startup, and doesn't exit the game properly, half the time having to ctrl+alt+delete it, and/or steam, and/or even firefox once.

★☆☆☆☆ Launch
★★☆☆☆ Wastelanders (If you play it singleplayer and pay2win)
The excess amount of toilet paper in this Coronavirus Simulator is really breaking my immersion, 0/10.

Reasons to Buy:
- You've burned every bridge in FO4?
- Everyone wants multiplayer Fallout, but this isn't it.

Reasons to Bail:
- Disgusting business model
- Everything is buggy. Everything.
- Everything is level gated stat creep
- Hunger, thirst, expiration, durability, encumbrance, and other anti-fun game ruining nags.
- Having a max storage weight basically forces you to stop playing, unless you pay2win (monthly) for infinite storage.
- Multiplayer sucks. Coop is punishing. Core singleplayer features (VATS, Pipboys, Quests) weren't transitioned worth a crap. Decor isn't instanced, quests aren't shared, and enemies spawn based on nearby player level, so other players can (un/intentionally) ruin the game for you.

Nitpicking & Biased:
+ Explore other players houses
+ Fitting music, both radio and ambient
+ Freely change your appearance at any time

+- Public events, on timers
+- PUBG mode (needs its own review)
+- Costumes override armor for vanity
+- Collectron & Nuka Doors, tainted by pay2win
+- Personal screenshots replace loading screens
+- Challenges (mini-achievements) for everything
+- Many map locations, with nothing worth exploring
+- Artistically, graphics are pretty, colorful retrofuturism, but lacking technically
+- Container loot is instanced, decor loot is not - which is utterly game breaking
+- PVP basically doesn't exist, but when it does, its the worst PVP in any game ever
+- New dialogue system is back to the FO3/NV style, but rarely have satisfying solutions

- No text chat
- No local map
- No companions
- New VATS is rubbish
- Melee doesn't cleave
- Fast travel costs caps
- Can't drag decor items
- Level gated everything
- No inventory text search
- No QuickSave/QuickLoad
- Mousewheel for hotkeys?
- House object & size limits
- Empty tutorial is no GOAT
- Forced to work for raiders
- "MMO" is false advertising
- Server hop to farm rare loot
- 30% off a week after release
- Pointless multiplayer, ghosts
- Ammo is less than worthless
- Exp bar not always on screen
- Loaded with microtransactions
- Bundles don't include everything
- Can only join team leader interiors
- Audio logs cut short by other audio
- Can't loot everything from everyone
- Power armor negates regular armor
- Something wrong with shadow quality
- Can't tell enemy level of map locations
- Bounties for lock-picking player houses
- Runs at half FPS if not in fullscreen mode
- Can't pause, even when locked in a menu
- Level gating made worse by slow leveling
- Hotkeys unhotkey when the item runs out
- Tabs in the Atom shop aren't actually tabs
- Menus don't respond properly to mouseover
- Doesn't properly save your location on logout
- Leveling system is painfully unrewarding RNG
- Repair cost is the same if 99% or 1% damaged
- Stamina, carry weight, stash weight, hunger, thirst
- Have to restart the game to update graphic settings
- Weapon durability, that can only be repaired at benches
- Building a base is even more pointless than it was in FO4
- Ridiculous respawn systems, on players and NPCs and loot
- Nothing unique or meaningful, endgame is lootbox farming
- Little-to-no quest fanfare, and even less impact on the world
- Menus are clearly designed for controller, not keyboard/mouse
- Bolt action weapons trigger a nonsensical everything-locked state
- Shows account name, instead of character name, why even have it then?
- Any Atoms you earned in the Bethesda edition won't be available on Steam
- FO4's collectibles were amazing, unique and meaningful, FO76's are rubbish
- World doesn't seem post-fallout, its not nuked, everyone died to some plague
- 3rd person camera STILL isn't viable. How hard is it to just center the camera??
- None of the issues from FO4 have been fixed, 10billion new ones have been added
- Wastelander's new Ally system isn't companions. Basically just human house decorations
- Faceroll Power Armor is the only viable build, but that isn't viable either, because batteries
- It costs less to craft entirely new armor, than to repair, not just less, but different/less-rare mats
- Now that there's a dialogue system, having Charisma dedicated entirely to party buffs is nonsense
- This story is Bethesda trying to explain away why their business model is a complete scam. "Gold is good!"
- This version of settlements is an utterly ridiculous waste of time, that you lose ownership of every time you leave for 5 seconds
- Levels scale based on nearby players, so other players can break the game for you, and you can't play with different level friends
- Hotkeys are set backwards, instead of picking an item > slot, you pick a slot then have to look through your entire inventory for the item
- New perk system is garbage. Level gated. Stat creep. RNG Card Packs. Duplicate effects. Limited by SPECIAL. Hard level cap. Utility cards waste space. Basically no respec
- Can basically only track 1 quest/objective at a time, the more you add, the worse it gets, as it spams your compass and quest list off the screen. Color code them, or something, at least. And show distance
- Inventory management is still nonsense. Instead of simply stripping all mods from a weapon when you put it into storage, at least optionally, you instead have 30,000 different versions of the same weapon, spamming an unsearchable list to infinity
- You can't loot everything from everyone. Instead, loot is RNG'd, and level based. That overtuned raider that just attacked you with a plasma gattling gun will instead drop a pipe pistol, and if you come back when you're level 30 he'll instead drop an assault rifle

SoD2 is more of a sidegrade than a sequel. The only truly new feature here is coop, and its not especially good, with only one player making real progress, and an obnoxious tether.

Reasons to Buy:
+ Map completion
+ Survivor base sim
+ Social sim quests forever

Reasons to Bail:
- Barely any improvements for a sequel
- Permadeaths never feel deserved, because terribad AI companions.
- Fuel, durability, inventory, bugs, timers, and other constant game ruining nags
- Every map except Valley is unplayable. Worst map designers of all time. Every map (including the new (now default) map) is a singular O road, with a giant unpassable mountain in the middle, and 99% dead space elsewhere. Valley is the best in layout, navigation, aesthetics, and base options.

Pros/Cons:
+ Fitting music
+ Enter and loot every building
+ Outposts are vaguely fixed and improved

+- Meaningful difficulty options
+- Special infected are game breakingly OP
+- Bases are super simple and not really customizable
+- No friendly fire, but friendly attacks can interrupt your finishers
+- This graphics remaster improved things on a technical level (though its still weak for UE4), but it also ruined the tone/style, and flashlights are blown out now.
+- Aim Snap ability, but you can't have it AND infinite weapon durability. So you basically can't have the skill that makes guns useful, and also the skill to actually use them...
+- The way you bring one of your own survivors into another world for coop is interesting, but everything else about coop is lacking. Coop players get about half the loot of the host, and seemingly not as good quality. There's an obnoxious tether. You can still permadie. You can't progress your own world when playing with others...

- Can't base anywhere
- Extreme non-optional film grain
- Survivor skills are painfully RNGd
- Constant time pressure on all quests
- Fuel and Durability are game ruining nags
- Aim assist somehow makes it harder to aim
- Equipping a melee weapon is barely an upgrade
- Jumping is super derp when you don't land a vault
- Friendly NPCs die way too easily and with no warning
- Weak save system doesn't save mission progress or exact details
- Vehicle physics are ridiculous, and handle like they're made of cardboard
- Finisher animations are not as good as SoD1, and most blade finishers look derp
- Ingame information is severely lacking on almost everything, expect to google a lot
- Even with all the DLC included, and the enhanced edition features, $30 is still 2x too much
- Bad map design and/or a lack of climbing basically forces navigation via roads, with no GPS
- Morale isn't really relevant or interactive, compared to something like Happiness in RimWorld
- Have to manually set waypoints, even for main/active/already tracked quests, or they don't display in-world
- Overlapping controls severely break the game. Chat in the middle of combat. Kick instead of jump for your life.
- Vehicle upgrades are more like downgrades, basically just HP+ and Fuel+, but they decrease your storage and seat capacity
- Anything using port 27015 will prevent SoD2 from reaching the title screen, which likely means it can't be played if your internet drops, even in singleplayer
- Maybe its because I didn't actually own the game on the Microsoft store, and only played with GamePass, but the Steam version conversion didn't work especially well, basically only imported achievements
- The new change to combat finisher controls, being a single button (instead of grab+execute), works decently on its own, except that button is also interact/search/chat, so you constantly do the wrong thing in the heat of battle.
- Bringing an NPC with you is borderline mandatory, as they make up 50% of your inventory and like 75% of your combat ability. However, they're so incompetent that they'll almost certainly die any time the ♥♥♥♥ hits the fan.
- Growing your community is punishing. Each person uses X food per day, and you can only get a max food income, so at some point everyone starves. Can nobody scavenge or start their own gardens? Might even hardcap at 9 people, though I've had more than that before, probably another bug.

This review was originally from the Microsoft Store version, so:
Fixed by updates:
- Insta mid-game loading screens?
- Even though theres tons of clothes, you cant customize
- This game only being on the microsoft store is 99 levels of stupid
- Graphics are abysmal for an UE4 game, and zombies/hordes pop into existence within smacking distance.
- The only way to change your leader is to murder them. This was likely done for extra coop variety, but it ruins singleplayer
- Hardcore anti-Steam. You cant even launch it on steam, if you alt-tab out to see steam while playing, it DCs you from coop, just amazing.
- So many bugs. NPCs who still show up on your map, arent actually around (maybe fell under the map?). Camera spazzes out after you vault a wall, looking at it instead of forward. Fall through the floor constantly in coop. Get stuck so often theres actually a "feature" ingame to fix it. Invisible equipment. Both times I cleared all the plague hearts, it didnt register or something, so i never got credit for beating the game. Search HUD/text regularly bugs out in coop. When you move into a new base, power from outposts doesn't register properly.
