Nice tire, but prepare to sacrifice gas mileage.

I bought these to replace the Bridgestone Ecopia OEM tires on my wife's Honda CR-V. The Bridgestones wore out very quickly, so I wanted a better tire. I got the V-rated version (Continental CrossContact LX25 235/60R18 107V). I've got about 1000 miles on these so far, and they are quieter and smoother than the Bridgestones. We haven't had a lot of snow yet this winter, but they have performed well on the snow and ice they have seen. My only complaint is the gas mileage. With 19,000 miles on the Bridgestones, the lifetime average gas mileage was 35. This is the calculated mileage, although the car's computer gave almost identical readings. Anyway, after switching to the Continentals, the mileage immediately dropped to an average of 30. Nothing else changed - same roads, same driving style. I thought a 14% decrease in fuel economy meant something else was wrong, so I checked the tire pressure again. It's exactly what I kept in the Bridgestones. So despite Continental giving this tire a "10" on fuel economy, I'm having a very different experience. I'm hoping for a significantly longer life from the Continentals, and if they deliver that, maybe I'll break even despite the increased fuel use.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

I had to replace the Pirelli Scorpions on my Ford Edge after only 30,000 miles. I did my research and picked the LX25 because of the great reviews and testing comparisons against other tires and the longer life than many of its competitors offered. So far these are soooo much quieter and softer than the Scorpions, in fact i listen to my radio at half the volume that i used to since i'm not trying to hear the radio over the road noise. I can actually hear the engine and wind over my tires!! They did have a little bit of a squishy feel when flying down the interstate when you switch lanes and taking exit ramps, but at this point i feel that its due to the lubricant that new tires have when they are molded and made, that needed to be worn off from driving. Also, due to the very deep tread pattern, the traction flexes a little bit. Now that i have worn off the lubricant I'm noticing less squishy feel on exit ramps and lane changes on the highway. Overall they made my car feel like a new car again with a much softer and quieter ride. As a side note, I also had Continental ExtremeContact tires on my Ford Mustang, and those tires grabbed the road and launched the car and the few times my Mustang was driven in rain, they handled beautifully. I was very impressed with those Continentals as well.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

    Q

Does the Continental CrossContact LX25 have the snowflake symbol?

    Asked by Neil
Verified Reply - Customer_ServiceNo, it does not. It only comes with the M+S symbol.
    Q

Your tire selector says this tire fits my 2019 BMW X5 with 20 inch wheels, but my BMW comes with run flats (no spare and jack or no tire inflation kit on the vehicle) .Does this tire come in a run flat version? I currently have the Cross Contact Sport SSR and at 24,000 miles the tires are nearing the end of life.

    Asked by Allen
Verified Reply - Customer_ServiceNo, this tire is not offered in a self-supporting run-flat version.
    Q

Why does the CrossContact LX25 not come up on the tire selector for my 2019 Chrysler Pacifica Limited (OEM tire size is P245/50R20)? Only the CrossContact LX Sport shows up. This is for a minivan, why is the sport the only one recommended. Is there a reason the LX25 should not be used?

    Asked by John
Verified Reply - Customer_ServiceThe reason why the site does not recommend the CrossContact LX25 is because your vehicle requires a 102V load index and speed rating and the tire only comes in a 102H. We can not recommend going down in speed rating.
