We are formed by a long and rich history, and all should be acknowledged and celebrated. That includes a strong connection between our identity and the Church
Have you looked at the Assyrian community lately? If we separate our identity from our churches people will either dissolve further into tribalists, or latch on to 6000 year old history as the sole justification for identity and unity
Every year on our feast days the muslims of Stockholm and Södertälje threaten our larger churches, and in 2015 the islamic culture association attempted to sue the church of Sts Peter and Paul for commemoratinh the Assyrian genocide of 1915 and linking it to ISIS
My great aunt only learned Arabic from her parents, but living in Qamishli after her marriage meant that she learned Syriac and taught all her kids Syriac.
This is just categorically untrue. Yes, individuals might call themselves Christians, but the biggest Christian churches and vast majority of Christians hold at least in common that you are no Christian unless you accept the Nicene crede, which includes trinity and incarnation
That has been the opinion of many, and those who fought most for this alienated themselves from the religious community. Reality is that our people and culture survived because of our churches, and that's why the two are so strongly intertwined
Notice also his very American protestant tendency to add a gazillion extra syllables to the name of Jesus Christ, as if his name in Hebrew becomes more authentic by the number of syllables and by being more unlike the Western transliterations of the name.
Yes. Different parishes tend to have special vestments for the choir. The Syriac church also has a female deaconate since the time of St Ephraim, which means that they tend to the choir and teach the liturgical chants, melodies, and hymns.
Finally his bedside was approaced by a radiant lady holding a baby.
"W-who are you!?" asked Scrooge.
"I am the Ghost of Religious Christmas" answered Blessed Virgin Mary.
I'm not a roman Catholic, and I don't consider "spouse of the Holy Spirit" part of my faith. My point was that it is unfair to take one guy on twitter and claim he represents RCC theology. I don't really have a dog in this game, I'd rather you become Oriental Orthodox
By that logic any local principality ruled by a local Prince should have been independent. They drew the borders of Iraq and the one nation they decided to grant independence was the one with no own ethnicity, culture, or history other than being geographically advantagous
Even if they were literate, how many people do they think wrote diaries 2000 years ago? It's not like you could go to the local Staples to buy notebooks. Even St Paul, a literate man, had scribes writing down his letters for him, and editing them
This does not even call for a sarcastic "oh no". This is a yes. They were part of an immoral system which exploited many people, both contributors and consumers. Lamenting their unemplyment is like being sad over children not being allowed to work in coal mines because of new law
Notice also his very American protestant tendency to add a gazillion extra syllables to the name of Jesus Christ, as if his name in Hebrew becomes more authentic by the number of syllables and by being more unlike the Western transliterations of the name.
Of course! Large conspiracy which involves changing the meaning of words in Greek and the innovation of a previously absent hellenic Krishna cult conveniently coinciding with the worship of Christ around the Mediterranean, leaving no traces afterwards but a similar sounding name

Krishna/Christ is the same word in greek
and has been worshiped as such for over 5,000 years
Long before Elohim commanded us not to speak the names of other Elohim. Krishna = Dark god, and was a pedophile
Mashiach is anointed, christ is Krishna
Trust Yahs words, not the Catholics
Nobody assumes a tree or a mountain have genders just because their grammatical genders are female and male. Also nobody misinterprets it this way when Christ is called a lion and a lamb. Maybe Jehovah's Witnesses had a point when they translated Wisdom as "it" instead of "she"
And notice how those who believe this nonsense almost always speak a language with genderless nouns, like English. Greek and Hebrew have all nouns either male or female, but that doesn't necessitate sex.

One of my favorite typologies from Mar Ephrem seeing the flaming sword of the angel in Genesis 1:24 as a type of the spear that pierced the side of Jesus Christ.

“Blessed is the Compassionate One Who saw, next to paradise, the lance [sword] that barred the way to the Tree of Life.
He came to take up the body that would be struck so that by the opening in His side He might break through the way into paradise.”
Say what you will about Saddam, but Kuwait has no justification for independence, historical or otherwise. You are a province southern Iraq given independence by the Brits in order to leave some conflict in the area.
It was quite fun getting pictures sent by her from old newspapers and magazines where they would argue how the animal content in vaccines would alter the human blood eugenically and turn us less human over time and generations. There was this anxiety regarding this specifically
I think it was specifically smallpox. I can ask my friend who is a historian, she was the one who wrote her bachelor's dissertation on antivaxxers and the vegetarian movement in Sweden during the beginning of the 20th century
It is also why all the consequent rulings of the Eastern part flourished, while the ruins left by the barbarian germanic tribes had to be built up from the ground up
Also all the riches, resources, and largest cities with the most development and history were in the Eastern half, and the Western half relied on imports from the East, which is why the Eastern half survived so well
It was a flawed system which relied on wars and conquest, which eventually lead to such overextension that the empire couldn't keep up the administration. They had to move the capital to the East in order to focus on Persia, and German tribes exhausted the Western border
Oh man have u some googling to do due to this tweet. I am fully unaware of the 5 wounds devotion, or how the divine mercy devotion affects the sacred heart devotions.
They have this concern regarding the mRNA in the vaccine, but chicken pox virus remains dormant in your nerve cells for the rest of your life, meaning there is virus DNA inside all of us. HIV adds a DNA string to your genome, but you don't hear about HIV patients being less human
The Swedish vegetarian association of the time associated the consumption of meat with the alcoholism problem Sweden had before the prohibition, and the animal products in vaccines as a eugenic catastrophe.
"Farewell Mardin" a novel by Henriette Aboudi that tells her Syriac family's history, the story of Mardin, that of Diyarbakr & the states of Eastern Anatolia & even the story of Aleppo & its people, who opened their chest for our afflicted people during the genocide (seyfo)
You know old articles from Swedish antivaxxers from the early 20th century read the same way. There was this concern that the genetic material from animals in smallpox vaccine would alter the genetic composition of humans and turn us into less human over the generations
Christians could not have organised a uniform corruption of the text of the NT (which is what we have a uniform text) even if we wanted to, therefore, the idea of a conspiracy to corrupt the text is a myth, for conspiracy nuts, who think the earth is flat!

The Christian church was a persecuted minority without power to perform a uniform textual transition.
It is a sacrament not insofar as to be a provider of divine grace and a requirement of salvation, but insofar as it is a mystical union through divine work which unites those involved into one. I don't get this objection of yours tbh
Naneh by Juliana Jendo.
This will always be my favourite Assyrian song. Also, my biggest flex is that I’ve memorised all the lyrics to every single Juliana song lol.
What a miserable existence it has to be to spend all day clutching your pearls about drama and crises in the Church (which maybe only several thousand people on earth actively fixate on) and hunting down clerics to anathematize online.
"But the young Maiden on the distant islands, heard the news and wondered what the Hebrews’s daughter did. The news about the Bridegroom came to Edessa the intelligent, and she asked about His beauty and was very anxious to see Him. For her sake, she clothed herself with zeal 1/2
Ṣurıt (Assyrian/Aramaic)
judge: dàyana ܕܝܢܐ [ däiana ]
Pronounced dâyana or dôyōnō; â = d[ay] and ô like d[ye]
This is an ancient Semitic root and where the Biblical name Daniel originates. It is the original name of Soran, before Kurds exterminated the Assyrian population.
Yes, it goes down three paths:
1. 'MoNoPhYsItE'
2. 'OK heretic. Blocked.'
3. 'Debate me, please debate me
'
It's a big yikes. The EO on here should be more like John Damascene or Maximus - at least they had virtue. Instead they want to be like John Grammarian and Leontius.
...the union was 'at the level of hypostasis', meaning by this simply that the Word's nature, that is, His hypostasis, which is the Word Himself, was genuinely united to a human nature, quite apart from any change or confusion.
~St Cyril of Alexandria
Lol they mass reported the account for making fun of Kalbdoğan. Imagine being this cult like that you can't take any offence against your political leader
It's very easy to disprove any claim that St Cyril of Alexandria was Dyophysite, and not only easy but good - because St Cyril used 'natures' as 'hypostases'. So if he said 'in two natures', that'd be the same as 'in two hypostases', which is Nestorianism. Have doubt? Check it
It has been suggested to me that a great many people don’t know what “KFC” stands for.
I refuse to believe this.
So, please tell me.
What does “KFC” stand for?
I fully expect only very extremely serious replies.
Kurdish nationalism has been destroying Iraq since 1991.
These people are so desperate to appear oppressed then go on to steal, occupy and Kurdify entirely non-Kurdish towns.
Countless Turkmen-majority towns. Countless Assyrian-majority towns. Countless Yazidi-majority towns.
No one is getting emotional, I'm telling you the truth. Take the advice and go in peace. I have seen your argument and it is uninformed, unconvincing, and frankly embarrassing for you. I don't refute meme arguments.
Lahmbagin are dry and ache your pallet and stomach. Only reason I never complain or say no is because I know all the effort and time that go into them, but I never crave them and never ask for them
I have been against all of these so far, but I support this. Lahmbagin are dry and overrated because they take a lot of time and effort to make. The only food I never crave or ask for is this.
You had to ignore half the NT and patristics just to make your fancy little table there, buddy. Maybe learn some humility and only speak of matters you understand? Otherwise it will bring judgement on you in the day of judgement.
I mean it's good and there is no reason to throw away the perfectly delicious intestines if you have already slaughtered the animal. I loved these as a kid and I still love them!
Lol is every argument by this guy going to be copied word by word from Ahmed Deedat? I'm embarassed for him. The least he could do is give credit, or just reshare the pamphlets which can still be found easily online
