Police: Man arrested in Grand Prize Bar attack over refusal to wear mask
Police have apprehended a 32-year-old man suspected of smashing a glass on a bar worker's head at a Museum District watering hole over being asked to put on a mask.
The man, Patrick Kelly, was arrested Wednesday night and charged with misdemeanor assault in connection to the Dec. 21 attack at Grand Prize Bar at 1010 Banks Street, near Montrose. The employee, a door man and barback, repeatedly asked him to wear a face covering, as required through COVID-19 guidelines.
The attack on Monday happened after, police said, Kelly emerged from a bathroom and again was confronted by the employee, identified by the bar as Josh Vaughan. The suspect grabbed a glass and hit Vaughan on the head.
