Internet Explorer 11 - Enable Flash after 11 January 2021

Dear sirs,

I know that Flash will not be supported after December 2021.

However I have been able to find out, switching system date, that it will work until 11 January.

From 12 January, this image wil be showed instead of the Flash WebApp.

Can this be override with some setting on Internet Explorer side ?

Hi Diego,
I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 3 year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

Unless your device is a part of a business organization, I am afraid nothing can be done. Flash would continue to be supported until May for Entperise customers optionally.

Please ask the app developer to switch to new technology like HTML5.
Sumit

It is NOT Microsoft, but Adobe the manufacturer for Flash Player is ending support for this product:

https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/end-of-life.html

Changing the date shouldn't run flash player and you should also take note that changing date would cause problems with other applications which has dependencies on correct date and time like all updates.

Even if you could run flash player somehow, your system would be at risk because there won't be any new security updates for flash player.

The best option would be looking for alternatives.

Thank you for your answers.

My goal is not to change the date in order to run flash. That was just a way to find out when it will stop working (12th January).

I was there wondering where does this check is included.

Is it inside Adobe Flash Plugin , or is it inside IE settings ?

My goal is to postpone the date of 12th January to giving us time to develope our HTML5 webapp.

Thanks and Best Regards

We are looking at doing something similar.  It is my understanding that this change will happen as part of Windows Updates.  We plan to block that update from removing Flash.  Will that work?  We have an application that runs with a bit of flash and need it to run until February when the replacement application is available.

Actually we have find a solution in the Flash 32 Admin Manual.

Adobe doc (chapter 5 - Administration - Enterprise Enablement) https://www.adobe.com/content/dam/acom/en/devnet/flashplayer/articles/flash_player_admin_guide/pdf/latest/flash_player_32_0_admin_guide.pdf

This are the step for IE11 (you will find those for Chrome inside the document):

  1. Do not install this optional update KB4577586: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/search.aspx?q=4577586
  2. When KB4577586 will be distributed, still do not install it. It will delete Flash for IE11 and will prevent it to be installed again
  3. Be sure to have the latest Flash version: 32.0.0.445: http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/search.aspx?q=4580325
  4. Create the following files:
    %windir%\System32\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg
    %windir%\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg
  5. Put this line of text in those files:
    EnableAllowList=1
    AllowListRootMovieOnly=1
    AllowListUrlPattern=https://%FQDN1%:%PORT%
    AllowListUrlPattern=http://%FQDN2%:%PORT%
    AllowListUrlPattern=http://%FQDN3%:%PORT%
    SilentAutoUpdateEnable=0
    AutoUpdateDisable=1
    EOLUninstallDisable=1
  6. This will allow Flash to run on the AllowListUrlPattern  website after EOL date
  7. If you use this procedure before EOL (now for example), all URL but those in the file will not work.

You will find all the details in the documentation. As per my test now the procedure work. Can't say what will happen in 2021

Is this for every website?
