The Taboo That Could Break America, Part II

Jared Taylor, American Renaissance, November 20, 2020

Yes, the races are not equal in intelligence and genes are part of it.

This video is available on BitChute here.

In last week’s video I broke the taboo against asking why blacks don’t do as well as whites. The only acceptable answer is “racism,” but of course, the obvious reason is that, on average, people of different races don’t act the same. Compared to blacks and Hispanics, whites and Asians do more of the things that make you successful.

But why is that? If you give the factually correct answer, you are a bigot — barely human. And the correct answer is: Human races are biologically different and on average don’t have the same abilities.

Differences show up at the Olympics. People of West African origin dominate the sprints. Here is Usain Bolt of Jamaica winning the 100m dash at the 2016 Olympics. And here are East Africans – Kenyans and Ethiopians – out ahead in the world cross-county championships.. There’s a book about this. Taboo: Why Black Athletes Dominate Sports and Why We’re Afraid to Talk About it. They dominate because of biology. And why are we supposed to be afraid to talk about this? If you talk about race differences of any kind, it opens the door to race differences in intelligence – and that is super-taboo.

Surprisingly, the facts are right out in the open. The article on “Race and Intelligence” at Wikipedia says this: A 2001 meta-analysis of the results of 6,246,729 participants tested for cognitive ability or aptitude, found a difference in average scores between black people and white people of 1.1 standard deviations. That’s a fancy way of saying that if the average white IQ is 100, the average black IQ is 85. The same article says this: According to a 2008 article in the journal Intelligence, a survey found that most researchers in the field of intelligence measurement do not believe there is robust evidence for the claim that IQ tests are racially or culturally biased. This finding is similar to that of a 2003 survey. Not even lefty Wikipedia can deny the facts.

Now, there are lunatics who deny this, but you know that smart people generally do better in life than dim people. So, what do race differences in IQ mean in real life?

Linda Gottfredson of the University of Delaware is probably the world expert on this. She wrote a chapter in this 2018 book called the Nature of Human Intelligence, and she included fascinating graph shown below. The two bell curves show the distributions of IQs for American blacks and whites. You can see there is overlap, but the curve for whites is well to the right. The horizontal axis shows IQ scores, from 70 to 130, and just above that are the jobs you can expect to get if you have an IQ in those ranges. At the left, with an IQ between 75 and 90, you might be an assembler putting things together, in food service, or a nurse’s aide. Between 90 and 110, you could be a clerk or a teller or a police officer – although I wouldn’t hire a policeman with a 90 IQ. It’s only on the right side, with an IQ of 125 or higher, that you have a good chance of being a lawyer or a chemist.

The most important numbers are along the bottom. For each IQ range, they show the ratio, compared to whites, of people of different races in that range. Starting at the left, at 75 and below, blacks are five times more likely than whites to have IQs that low. Hispanics are four times more likely. Asians, though are less likely – only two-thirds as likely as whites. The ratios shift as IQ rises. At IQs greater than 100, whites are three times as likely than blacks and twice as likely as Hispanics to score in that range, while Asians are 20 percent *more* likely than whites. And look over on the right: IQs of 125 or greater. Whites are 30 times more likely than blacks and five times more likely than Hispanics to be in that range. And Asians are twice as likely as whites to be that smart – or, if you like, 60 times more likely than blacks to be that smart. This doesn’t mean there are *no* brilliant blacks or Hispanics – but they’re rare. These are the facts we have to deal with.

And the facts show up early. Look at this graph of Kentucky grade four math proficiency rates and the black/white achievement gap.

The blue line at the top is the white pass rate and the orange line is the black rate. As the years go by, the gap got wider. In the last year on this graph, 45 percent of white fourth graders were proficient but only 15 percent of blacks were.

Here are national 8th grade reading scores for the NAEP, or National Assessment of Educational Progress.

The scores are drifting up but we see exactly the race differences we’d expect: In descending order — Asian, white, Hispanic, black.

What about jobs? The media complain that “Black Tech Employees Continue to Face Workplace Racism.” What they mean is that blacks are a lot less likely than whites to have tech jobs. Sorry, but it takes brains to write computer code. If you want to hire the best programmers, you’re going to get whites – and also a whole lot of Asians. Tech company execs are terrified of taboos, so they get down on their knees and promise to hire more black lady C++ experts – who are rare as unicorns. Silicon Valley is as remorselessly “woke” as its possible to be, but we’re supposed to believe it’s full of racists? No. They’re just stuck with IQ bell curves – just like all the other executives who have to beg forgiveness at least every quarter for not hiring enough “people of color.”

Here’s a problem for the tech industry. As a 2019 Pew Research poll found, whites are more likely than blacks or Hispanics to score high on a science knowledge scale. That was 9 percent of blacks, 23 percent of Hispanics, and 48 percent of whites. Whites were more than twice as likely as Hispanics and more than five times as likely as blacks to score high. That’s about the same odds as having an IQ of 110 or higher. If Pew had included Asians, how do you think they would have scored?

Final question before class is dismissed: What causes race differences in IQ? Here we get another deafening, obligatory answer: “It’s a racist environment, you bigoted moron.” If you mention genes, you get the Watson treatment. James Watson, co-discoverer of the structure DNA was the world’s most famous living scientist until 2007, when he slipped up and talked about low African IQ. The sky then fell. “DNA Scientist James Watson Stripped of Honors Over Views on Race.” Game over for Watson. He might as well have been the Grand Cyclops of the Ku Klux Klan.

So the pressure not to break the great taboo is, I’d say, about 1,000 pounds per square inch. Which makes the results published this year in Intelligence magazine all the more remarkable. It was a survey of intelligence experts who had published scientific articles on intelligence. These people don’t work for the New York Times, so they all knew there’s a big, black-white IQ gap. The question was, how much of the gap is due to genes.

These experts were mostly liberal. On this distribution of their politics, they leaned heavily left – the liberal side of this graph – not many over on the conservative right.

Here is how the experts answered the question about genetics.

The numbers along the bottom are the percentage of the IQ race gap due to genes. As you can see at the left, more than 15 percent said genes had nothing to do with it. But the rest, 85 percent, said genes play some role. The most popular reply was the one in the middle: that genes account for 50 percent of the black/white difference. Further over to the right, the third most popular reply, was that genes account for 80 percent of the racial gap.

All these experts would surely have known what happened to James Watson. I wouldn’t be surprised if some who said genes count for nothing were just playing it safe. These are dangerous times for dissidents – that’s why I can’t have a YouTube channel.

So: There are big race differences in average IQ. Experts think it’s at least partly – maybe a lot – due to genes. Scientists are already finding the genetic patterns associated with level of education, which is a good indicator of intelligence. And, sure enough, as you see on this graph, those genetic patterns are distributed exactly as we would expect: Lowest in Africans, highest in Asians.

All the role models, affirmative action, white-shaming, critical race theory — and rioting aren’t going to change this. But we’ve all got to act like idiots and pretend that Bushmen are just as likely as Koreans to have the brains to find a cure for cancer.

Next week, I’ll explain why this self-imposed idiocy – the taboo against even talking about this – really could wreck the country.
