The Hammudids are an interesting case of a Berbrized Dynasty of Arab origin. Through Idris Ibn Abdullah, they descend from Hasan Ibn Ali. They ruled several Kingdoms in Al-Andalus. Despite their prominent Arab lineage, they're widely considered to be a Berber Dynasty.

Reminds me of the second day after the winter's first rainfall in Lebanon. My mom used to cook them in the morning and I would wake up to the delicious scent and rush to grab a toothpick for an enticing breakfast. God I miss those days.

This falsehood seems to have been spread by Kamal Joumblatt and Sami Mkarem (who wrote about Druze because of political motives and after being urged by the former). And it seems to be common among many diaspora who read Mkarem's books.

The claim that souls re-unite with the universal consciousness / God is not found in the Hikma. It's a modern borrowing from other religions. Druze believe in the Immortal Realm of Masters (like Shambhala). So devout Sheikhs become part of the Holy Generation.

This explains that Nina Abdel Malak is sharing conservative opinions from a very esteemed Professor of Psychology in U of T and a best-selling author. As opposed to the false and exaggerated claims about her having radical sexist and homophobic views by "journos" like yourself.
