Alcohol is the biggest reason for destruction of sikh fertility in Punjab. Sikhs grew by just 8% in 2001-11 inspite having 32% SC population (which generally has higher tfr). Punjab is the only state which has seen hindu share rising.

I personally feel a nationwide ban on consumption of drinks with high alcoholic content (outside rituals) would help improve TFR of Hindus, particularly in states like Kerala and Telangana. If not throughout the whole country, atleast outside the metro areas.
