UK Passes Immigration Bill Ending Free Movement
The United Kingdom passed an Immigration Bill through Parliament on Monday that will end free movement from Dec. 31 forward. What Happened: The bill gives the U.K. the power to determine who comes to the country for the first time in decades. The new migration policy brings an end to free movement in the middle of an economic crisis and COVID-19 pandemic. Why It's Important: The U.K. is no longer a member of the European Union, and the country's transition period after Brexit comes to an end this year, with new rules from January 2021.The bill has come under huge criticism. The act of pursuing a new migration policy and ending free movement in the middle of a health and economic crisis -- as the U.K. Home Office has done -- is being described as "jaw-droppingly stupid" by one politician. > Great news! > Our right to live, travel, work and retire freely in 30 countries has been ended! > At last we can join long queues at immigration at EU airports! > At last we can deter EU doctors and nurses and teachers and scientists from coming here! > Hurrah!https://t.co/gvfuPsETn4> > -- David Schneider (@davidschneider) November 9, 2020> One day soon - not this year or the next, but not so long from now - we will undo this. We will regain our right to travel and live freely on our continent once again. https://t.co/brzg6Klt7g> > -- Ian Dunt (@IanDunt) November 9, 2020Related Link: Bank of England Boosts Quantitative Easing As Second COVID-19 Lockdown BeginsSee more from Benzinga * Click here for options trades from Benzinga * Why Aptevo's Stock Is Trading Higher Today * Virgin Hyperloop Transports First Passengers In Nevada Trial(C) 2020 Benzinga.com. Trump might be starting to come to terms with having lost 2020 — by setting his sights on 2024
President Trump has privately mused about running for president again in 2024, two sources familiar with the conversations told Axios. The report — which Axios calls "the clearest indication yet that Trump understands he has lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden" — follows rumors by aides about the potential for a "resurrection run" in four years, as well as a report from The New York Times that likewise alleged the president himself has "broached the idea of running again."Axios adds that "even four years after leaving office, [Trump] could remain formidable in a Republican primary," and that could "freeze the ambitions, fundraising and staffing of individual candidates — and of the Republican National Committee as it seeks to regroup and move beyond Trump."Even before he lost re-election, Trump would frequently joke about running again in 2024. "There is no Trump 2024 campaign," The Week's Bonnie Kristian has previously written, "— at least not for Donald Sr."More stories from theweek.com GOP operative: Trump voters will turn on congressional Republicans if they publicly concede election Does it matter if Donald Trump never concedes? What happened to Jordan Spieth? How golf's next big thing descended into paralysis by analysis
“Go get that,” Jordan Spieth shouted, ordering his caddie, Michael Greller, to pick up the ball that had just dived into the cup from 48 feet. It was a display of such prodigious nerve, or “moxie” as his fellow Texans might call it, that his three-word instruction on Royal Birkdale’s 15th green would soon be emblazoned on his fans’ baseball caps, marking the moment he wrapped up his first Open title. On that drizzly Southport evening in 2017, he was, at 23, the youngest player in history to hold three majors and 11 tour victories. By far the most arresting statistic, though, is that he has not won again since. Every year since his Augusta debut in 2014, where he tied for second behind Bubba Watson, Spieth has been a fixture of the Masters’ build-up, analysing the vagaries of the course with precocious authority. This time, he is not even included on the interview schedule, despite winning in 2015 and finishing inside the top three on four of his six starts. The boy king who became world No 1 in only his third season on the PGA Tour finds himself 81st in the standings, his ranking falling faster than the Zoom share price on the day an effective Covid-19 vaccine is confirmed. It is a capricious mistress, fame. One moment Birkdale’s autograph-hunters are falling over ropes to glad-hand you, the next the tournament where you have enjoyed the greatest success is trying to ease you gently into the shadows. In fairness, Augusta will ensure that Spieth has his share of privileges this week, as he takes his place at Tiger Woods’ table for the champions’ dinner on Tuesday and slips back into the green jacket that barely left his side after his triumph five years ago. The jacket is far too large for him, since he never had it tailored. Alas, his billing as golf’s next phenomenon – in keeping with his status as only the second man to win three different majors before the age of 24, the other being Jack Nicklaus – has also proved increasingly difficult to wear.

Austin Vanderford reveals wife Paige VanZant could join Bellator after bare-knuckle boxing stint
Bellator middleweight Austin Vanderford is convinced his wife and former UFC star Paige VanZant will return to mixed martial arts in the future - he hopes with the Bellator fight league - but for now VanZant has shocked the fight world by signing for Bare Knuckle FC after her contract with the UFC expiring. The 26-year-old opted for the drastic change in direction despite offers to stay in mixed martial arts. Vanderford, who met VanZant in the gym, where they fell in love, backs her surprise career pivot, despite harbouring hopes she will still switch allegiances to Bellator down the line. “My wife did sign with Bare Knuckle,” he said. "Of course I would be a liar if I said I didn’t want her to be here and join me in Bellator. But that decision took a lot of soul-searching for her. “She felt at this point in her career she needed to make some changes to continue to compete with the top girls. What she’s going to do now will extend the longevity of her career. I know that sounds ironic since she’s going to fight in bare knuckle. But she’s only 26 and this gives her the opportunity to work on some things. Really work on her striking.” VanZant has famously revealed she pocketed more from a stint on American TV show ‘Dancing with the Stars’ than she did in her entire career in the UFC.
