地震動表示装置開発の取り組みについて Effort to Develop Display System of Earthquake Ground Motions

This paper describes the effort to develop the display system of earthquake ground motions which are recorded bythe K-NET (Kyoshin Network) employed by NIED (National Research Institute for Earth Science and DisasterPrevention). It is developed using three hundred full-color LEDs and a relief map to educate students and pupils abouthow earthquake ground motions propagate. This display system was reported on NHK television and Asashi, Yomiuriand Sankei news papers. And two of the authors were awarded the Educational Prize by the Japan Society of Civil Engineers.
