Mount Pleasant schools superintendent retiring
Susan Guiney, superintendent of the Mount Pleasant Central School District, is retiring after 10 years with the district.
Guiney, who announced her decision in an email January 18, said she will leave the post in July.
"Over the past 10 years, our school community has worked together to create great success and to bring well deserved recognition to Mount Pleasant as a high achieving school district," the email said.

Before becoming superintendent, Guiney was the district's director of curriculum, a position she took on in January 2008.
"As the superintendent search begins to unfold and the proverbial baton is passed, it will be business as usual in our schools," Guiney said in the statement. "There is still so much to do as we move forward in the second half of this school year."
